new scammer calling

Received voicemail messages for three businesses I work for ... three! ... within the past two days. So this caller is making the rounds locally to me. I googled the number and found, word for word, the message I heard.
Well spoken male voice. Caller ID comes up as private number. I don't know what the game is but I'm not biting. Just thought I'd share.
"Hi there it's Tim calling you from underwriting. I'm just calling you about the working capital approval we have for your company. If you can just give me a call so we can go over the details, my direct line is area code 949-478-3944. Thanks have a great day. Bye."
 
Seems like we get some sort of recorded call almost daily, at times more than one call, usually at supper or when your hands are busy with a project. I'm old and cranky, the second I determine it is a recorded call I'm gone, don't talk to machines.
 
MOST recorded calls will have an opt out at the end. Got this tip from a DD. Listen until the end and it will say something like press 9 to opt out. I do not have the patience but Himself has been doing that. I must admit the robo calls are fewer. Now if there was only a way to get rid of the dead air calls....... And my caller ID has told me a few times the call was from.............. MY phone number
 
We got true caller and it cut down 3/4 on the calls. Now we feel inspire to answer the phone since the chance of it being a spam is much, much lower. That and we took our 800 number off the internet. We still have it but its not out on all our sites.
 
There is no opt out with this one.
And they are using one of those phone number masking programs because each one shows up as a different calling from number, unavailable or private, though the recording is exactly the same giving the same number to call back. ugh

That may work with legitimate business. The rest of them know they now have a valid phone number.
I've blocked 17 different phone numbers from 'better business'. Everyday it's a new number, same name.
