April Fools!

Well for those of you who don't know we took on the property next door to us on the 28th of August last year and we are soft opening 1st of April!
All minions are working like the clappers to get everything ready for opening! its a complete zoo but we are getting there! Just been foiled by the card machine people, weather stuffing up the landscapers and a million other small things!
Been busy unwrapping mattresses - you would not believe the packaging that has come out - everything in a box in a box in a bag! which all has to be taken down about 4 flights of stairs each time. Professional photographer is coming Friday to photograph so feel free to take a look when we have them. Bleugh its been a long process!

I forget. Did you open the wall between the two so it's one hotel now, or are you maintaining separate buildings, each with its own check in area and staff?

No, she did not. That would put her in a different category with the people who love to take our money just because we exist. Two facilities with two different names.

eventually I will replace the extension on the back so I will have a rat run through - but that's a whole chunk of change!

trouble is OTA's wont advertise without any photo's so been mocking up rooms as fast as we can to photograph! same bed in all just been moving it round! lol - its just putting everything together and chasing up all the last bits like attic is 1 board of wet board and a shower door - then carpet and lino - then that floor is finished.
2nd floor is 1 shower door which came was bent, new one was wrong size so finally today should go on.
1st floor is 1 shower door, 1 bathroom lino, 1 room to finish decorating.
Halls stairs and landings nearly finished painting.
glass staircase to attic goes in tomorrow
Hall stairs and landing carpet starts tonight.
3 bathrooms on the ground floor to do and the 4th when DH's mum moves out into the extension which will be beginning on may as we need to put a new roof on it first which is some time in April. - then it needs replastering inside as has been leaking for a while so is quite mouldy (Bleugh)

its 8.45pm and carpet fitter is doing the attic bedrooms which means i can finally get them properly cleaned. - line on the 29th then another 2 rooms done. all the furniture is up there but the concept of clean as you go or even bring crap down with you (4 flights of stairs) on a night is alien - spend all my time chucking crap out and doing trips to the tip. All really starting to come together now and Graham the decorator is staying on site and really cracking on. John the joiner had a bit of a dicky turn today funny pain in his left arm and across his chest other minions let him drive home I would have been driving him straight to A&E!!!!! hope he is OK sounds like a nasty trapped nerve but that's bad enough when you have a little tot running about and your body is your job!

You sound just like us with the difference that we will not open on the 1st haha. We started renovating the bedrooms and building a second floor in November and planned to open on the 01st of April but we have our first guests on the 3rd and we have no doors to the en-suites that will not come until next week, AC's still to be installed (as they're stand alone we don't do any central AC's here), curtains still to be put up and the second floor still to be plastered from the inside with no windows and tiles! At least the next booking after that is on the 25th as I have managed to block all the dates before any others booked. I have never imagined that it would be this hectic!

We are currently fitting carpet - its all starting to come together - just 2 rooms in saturday night then odds and sods while we finish up - its all the odds and ends like glasses, trash bins for the room, trash bin for the bathroom and so on, coat hangers, tea tray stuff etc.

just working through washing all the cups and glasses for the rooms - its getting 16 rooms worth of lables off! got one batch in the sink soaking, one lot on the stairs to go into the clean cupboard and 1 lot in the dishwasher!

Been very stressful yesterday as hot water in one half of the building wasn't working! people kept ringing for rooms but I just didn't dare take any more which is massively frustrating! Just got in 2 of my regulars who are super happy to have a cheap night away and 1 Craft fair person who is happy not to be in a tent - so all good all round!
