I deliberately erase the login ID from FB after I log out. I got in the habit of doing this after I realized all of the login id's were being saved.
This just started happening today - no matter what I do, the login id is not erased. The only way I can make it go away is to completely shut down firefox or edge and start fresh.
I have 'save logins' and 'save passwords' turned off in firefox.
When the FB login screen comes up after logging out, I click the x to erase the login (the one that shows your photo) but my userid is still in the logon field. I erase the userid from the login field and close that tab. If I open a tab and go to FB, my useried is automatically there.
I don't want my, or any guest's, userid stored by FB. At this point, it seems FB is somehow retaining this info even tho I am erasing it. Cookies? I don't know.
Any ideas?

What web browser do you use?
If I use Brave, I have to enter in my login. It will remember the password if I ask it to (and of course I do) but it doesn't automatically log in anyone.
So, theoretically, if you use a login that guests won't think of, you should be able to avoid them logging in as you. And I assume they won't ask facebook to remember their password on your computer.
On that shared computer, in settings for whatever web browser you use, I would tell it not to remember passwords and I'm surprised it's remembering them. Yes, I clear cookies and cache constantly. I also use ccleaner free daily and it wipes out everything I ask it to. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download You have to select all the options you want cleared on your first use, but after that it just hums along.
Good luck.

I have told Firefox not to remember anything. I also remove my login every time. It doesn't matter as of today. The login name comes up every time unless I completely close Firefox and Edge (the new MS product).

I meant with brave I have to enter the id. On the others I don't.
in Firefox, try Options in the little lined logo in upper right corner Under Security put an exception for remembering password for Facebook there You can also see saved logins and remove them

There are no saved anything. That's why I'm mad. I found what you're talking about and there was nothing saved there.
Now it's doing it on the tablet. I had to clear everything and log out to get the login ID to erase.
Using 'remove ID from device' doesn't work any longer. Argggh! I hate Facebook!

You got me. FB wants to be 'on' with you all the time.
What do you want to use FB for? I see that you post for the inn. Can you uninstall it and reinstall it (of course, you will need to remember your password! or reset it) Are the guests using the same computer you want to post on? I had an old laptop for guest use but I didn't use it for myself. So my login was never there. As I said, I use ccleaner all the time.
Love my tablet and iphone - and those I'm fine with having auto logins.

The guest computer is not one I use regularly. It's just the 'idea' that facebook offers the 'remove id' feature but then it doesn't actually remove it!
I don't want my logon id saved on something (tablet and phone) that I might lose.
I guess I have to curtail my use to posting one thing in the morning and then shutting down the browser to remove all the data.

Have you tried other browsers to see if the same thing happens? If I log into another FB account that I edit, it always asks be for me PW when I go to my own personal account.

Yes, it asks for the pw, but I don't want the id to stay live.
It does it on Firefox, Edge and now it's Chrome as well. Just started yesterday. I have always been able to remove the id prior to that.

I installed it. Didn't work. It may be blocking ads from showing up but it is not blocking the login name from showing up.
I guess it's ok, I need a break from FB anyway. This is annoying me enough to just log on in the morning before I start any work and then at night when I shut the computer off anyway.

If it is your computer/ phone or tablet. why bother with all of this. I don't want to type in my PW everytime. What's the big deal? Big brother is always watching anyway..doesn't bother me.

Mort, see if this perhaps fills your need:
Assuming you are using Windows 10
Go to Control Panel
Choose System and Security
Choose User Accounts
Choose Credential Manager
Choose Web Credentials
At that point I can see the various (remembered) sites that I have visited and my user name
If I click on the "check" next to the user name it opens a dropdown with more detail and password and shows a place to "remove" your credentials.
Perhaps it is Windows rather than Firefox or Facebook that is remembering the information you would like the computer not to remember, maybe worth a try anyway..

If it wasn't simultaneously happening on my tablet I'd agree. But, I will check that tomorrow. Thanks! I should probably check my phone, too.
Nothing listed in web credentials.

I usually have the opposite problem, if the device doesn't remember my information I'm sunk as I have long forgotten myself.
