Overwhelmed with day to day grind?

We are pretty much guestless at the moment so it's all work and no fun. I'm feeling swamped by the to do list - especially the marketing aspect. Is there anything you've tossed in re marketing because it was just too much to keep up with? Anything you can't do without? I'm talking about guest engagement here, not what websites to list on.

Presently, I'm working in the living room, the office is torn apart. That could be part of the problem - my desk is missing!

Rather than do one more blog I want to take a nap!

For whatever it is worth, I do look forward to your posts on FB and I expect your guests do as well, wish I was talented in that area.

Office and bedroom mostly back together, just the little stuff left now. Got 'realigned' today at my first ever chiro visit. Interesting!

Hope you get a good one, I don't know what I would do with mine.

Do you really have to still do so much marketing crap? Does it really make any difference? What's one blog post more or less? Who really reads? Does it bring you guests? Do you have ways to identify what works to bring in guests? Stick with what works.

We are running about 100% behind on advance reservations right now. As in I have WEEKS in July & August where we have not a single guest. Not one. Other places are almost full. I'm missing something.

I have been treading water for the last 2 years. I long ago stopped wringing my hands about no reservations on the books in the future. I have found (honestly) over the years, that when I am desperately in need of a reservation for financial reasons, the phone rings or I get an e-mail from RezKey. I just trust all will be well. If I did anything else I would be a raving lunatic.

THIS year is strange - I had a rez in Sept I was able to transfer thank goodness and I have a rez in November - not a B & Bs For Vets - paying! VERY unusual.

We have a holiday weekend coming up and I'm almost empty, but the weekend before and after are full. I'll never understand the system Smiling

I've lowered prices for the holiday weekend. We are generally turning guests away at this point.

That holiday weekend is fully booked, but oddly enough, not Friday night... but from Saturday night (3 day bookings.)

You cannot blame yourself. If everything you do is the same, nothing you can do short of giving rooms away. It is was it is, don't try to read  more into it. Others are experiencing the same. It is a strange year. One friend of mine who is ALWAYS full is now getting cancellations. Nothing she can do but move on. So you do the same. Hugs!

Blog? Never once have I ever blogged. If it's any consolation July and August suck here also.

I love a good chiropractor.   I dislike bad ones.   I've had both.   Glad you found a good one.

Do you feel taller?

I jokingly told her I'm really 5'8". (I slouch really badly.)

We have been empty the past five days and spent that hand scraping and sanding 130 year old paint off from our huge porch.  Complete chaos and disarray.  Now repainted, put back together, and makes me smile.

Meanwhile have 8 flowering baskets waiting  to be re-potted in our nice baskets, along with at least three dozen perennials and roses to plant to replace those ruined by the drought last year, the deer with nothing else to eat, a weird winter, and the roofers putting on a new roof that trampled all my borders.

Poppa is out mowing the lawn for the first time.

Not to mention a myriad of other projects we've accomplished.  Now we just need guests.

I do plan to treat myself/us to Lobsters on Sunday for Mom's Day.

We spent the evening moving my mom's boxes around so we could find the cable company's equipment... because she couldn't find it when the technician came.

Today, I spent and hour and half trying to get them back there and to fix her order, because apparently she managed to get an Internet package that no longer exists... and they now offer free country-wide calling for free... but she didn't have it. I managed to get it fixed. I think the bill is down by 11c a month.

The workmen left yesterday. I can't find the floor in my living room. The shelves to the new cabinet are still at mom's. I wish I had an empty house Smiling

You are in disorganized house stress hell.   I feel for you.

I get very on edge when the house is in turmoil.

To answer your question, my only blog is on FB.   Our FB page is accessible from our website.  I only post articles about our town and pretty pictures.   I have about 300 regular followers and can get as many as 800 'looks.'

I don't tie myself down to a schedule.  Just when I feel like it.

Our main marketing, believe it or not, is asking for reviews.   That is where people find us, so that's where we put our efforts.

My biggest challenge is getting all the ruddy rubbish away - have a big eye sore pile outside and we do a car load if not 2 every day and it  just doesn't seem to get any smaller!
