The Clown Car...

Guest calls, asks if we have a cot available. Nope. Change of rooms to a room with 2 bed. Nope. We are sold out. He is in our smallest room (barely fits a queen size bed)

This morning comes for breakfast late. Give him what's left, continental style. After he leaves, out comes 2 more gentlemen. Yes, they packed them in like it's a clown car! 3 to a bed... I'm not getting into a shouting match with his 2 friends, he's gone for the day. But WTF? 3 guys in a queen bed in a room booked for 2.

Update. Asked for late checkout (of course). The housekeeper was standing there and I negotiated that she be paid more than her hourly salary to stay late... room has got to be ready for the next guest by 3PM... even if it isn't sold tonight Smiling

Did you not see them when they checked in? I hope you charged them extra?

Self check-in after midnight. Still here. I'll charge them tomorrow. Asked if they could change room, but I don't have another room anyway. But 3 guys to a queen bed... (and one thing I can tell you is... they are definitely not ready for marriage... I cleaned the room... definitely NOT housebroken, yet.)

Most of the guys I know don't want to share a room with another man, much less a bed!

Friends of ours had a double room booking, when they arrived there was 3 of them. Told them 1 or 2 could stay, not 3 even though was peak season and finding somewhere else would be difficult. Got the usual "oh it will be ok, we'll manage", no!

We had a group of 3 guys show up for a room late one night. Their reservations had been made by the soccer club. They decided they'd just share one room figuring they were booked in at a hotel and they'd have 2 beds and a couch.

I told them only two could stay. One got very testy with me. I tried calling other places for them but everywhere was full.

Next day, in the afternoon, I see a woman come out of the room! The 3 guys traded with her. They got her motel room, she got their dirty room! We expected the guys back so just made the bed and tidied the bathroom.

She loved the room. Said the motel was creepy and right on the main road.

We once had a group of four fishermen who booked two rooms.  They were shocked to find we were not a motel, but a B&B.   One room had two beds and for the other room, we gave them an air mattress.

At breakfast, they were joking about sleeping in a "Princess Bed."   (canopy bed)  Smiling

Nice bunch.

That's what we do.  Add the $25 and dare them to call and dispute it.

On those occasions where I discover an extra guest, I just slap on the extra $20 a night to their room rate and just take a deep breath.

That's what I'm going to do. But hate confrontation. And hate the fact that had there been a fire, my count would have been off.

Don't get me started on that - we have just had a massive fire in a tower block in london looks like 50 killed at least with them still looking and counting understandably people are really going over their own fire safety procedures in the coming days.

Been reading about that. It is horribly sad.

The aggro part of it. for me, is how "THEY" will come down on small  business & B & Bs about stupid little details "with both feet and a fist", but will allow a building that will house that many people to be built without sprinklers or other safety factors.

The London fire has been reported internationally.   What a tragedy.  I am so sorry.  Everyone's worst nightmare come true.  So scary and horrible.

trouble is its the kind of area where a lot of families put up extended family members etc so no one can be properly sure how many and who was actually in there. PLus a lot of people sub let etc so its going to take a while. We had a fire in the london underground once and they still have a chap on ice 50 years later with no idea who he is.

Reading about it, it looks like basic fire codes were ignored.
