Tuesday was an extremely busy day here. I want to thank Innkeep for one of the bright spotsd in it.
Justa few things to take care of that day. Remove money from my bank to replace what my brother's bank took out for my currency exchange, then go to his baank to replace amoney and pick up the currency for my trip (rate of exchange was what I considered the best it would be).
I had planned to go to the Courthouse to do research for a lady in Czech Republic about her grandfather, but realized it was closed for West Virginia's Birthday.
Went to travel agency to see what we can do about the first leg of my trip. The puddle-jumper airline out of a local airport where I can park my car for free for the month announced they are moving service from Dulles to BWI as of July 31 - I leave Sept 6, from Dulles. No total solution yet, but have several contingency plans in the works.
then I went to my jelly supplier to restock - I was down to 1 jar! While there I got a call from a lady who asked if I had availability for her - she wa at a traffic light on a motorcycle. I said I did and she said she would call when she got closer and I said fine, which room and she said the big one.
I then had to stop aat the grocery to buy the ice cream for the Birthday Party at the Museum (Woman's Club did ice cream & Museum did the cake). West Virginia's Birthday is a big deal in West Virginia. I stayed to help a while and left to get ready for the guest and would go buy another carton of the ZIce cream everyone was choosing. On the way home (2 blocks) the car felt funny. Yep, pull in the driveway and I have a flat tire. I get out the toy tire and jack. Lossen th lug nut and feel under for a solid metal to put the jack on. Jack it up, finally muscle the flat off the car, and as I tried to line up the holes of the toy tire, the jack fell over. NOW I have the nose of the car on the driveway. So I called a service station in town. They came over, got the car up, and took the tire to see if it could be repaired (knowing thaat station, I knew it was going to be a "cannot repair"). Oh, Tuesday is also Band Rehearsal night.
Lady calls back and I get cc# and name. Tell her I will be at band rehearsal, door open and which room is hers. She is cool with that as she is also in a Community Band.
I am no longer playing bari sax - I now play tom-tom (3 drums with different tones), gong, shaker, triangle, and wind chimes. Because we were short percussion players Tuesday, I also (for the first time stepped in to play suspended cymbls and crash cymbal (those things are HEAVY). Got home, guest there and invited her to join the flute player and me at the unlit fire pit for a glass of wine (jelly place now doing wines so had to try it).
Next morning as she was leaving, she told me she had changed her route because she had stayed with Innkeep who told her she needed to come stay with me. Thank you, Innkeep.

You have to be ruddy careful with your car and jack! could have been a nasty accident! have been going mad with my parents as (1) its MEGA hot here mum got properly lobster burnt on Sunday (2) dad who is 80 was climbing a ladder to go the gutters on the conservatory and ladder collapsed so bit black and blue and scrapped up and (2) mum fell in the kitchen and hit her head bit of too much warfrin and heat - not worth new hips at this stage keep telling them to be careful it could be really bad.
Glad you had a nice guest, find people enjoy that they are trusted

Please please please get AAA - don't be messing with changing tires. I will buy a subscription for you if need be. Just message me the necessary info.

It happens so infrequently that it is not worth it I know enough to NEVER have part of me under the car when on a jack. I was in no danger. At one point in time, my part-time job was tires and batteries in a Sears garage (oil changes & lubes too). I could get dirty for $1 per hour more than working in the store and staying clean.

One of those folks I admire was Margaret Dunning who as she approached 100 was still driving and changing oil in her antique Packard. If I remember correctly she passed away at about 104 while attending a car show, we should all be lucky enough to follow that path.

I won't argue with you about it.

You know how to reach me if you change your mind.
I was brought up to carry a AAA card, a $20 bill and a blank check. Can't tell you how many times driving down some road (crowded or lonesome) I suddenly had need of assistance. Once the break line went, once smoke spewed out from under the hood and the car ground to a hault, once gravel bounced out of an open truck and shattered by windshield - spraying me with rocks. Not to mention a flat tire and a dead battery or two. Lots of reasons to have it. Funny how $20 STILL works.

WoW K you are just so amazing.Your always full of surprizes. Great ideas and get up and go power. How did your boxed gift go over. ? I bet they were just tickle pink.

I had a Gillum moment this afternoon. Guest phoned to ask to be picked up a few miles from here. A couple on a tandem bicycle. He was suffering from the heat (90s here today and tomorrow - NOT normal for our area). Fortunately our pickup truck was here at home so I drove down the highway, found them and loaded them in, brought them home and made up some limeade. After cool showers, drink and rest she's fine and he's a bit better. I was and am a bit worried for him though. His distress was coming through in his voice and when I picked them up I could tell he was very stressed and running on his last bit of energy. I may just load them back in the truck and drive them to their next stop tomorrow, 1 hour drive. We'll see how it goes. Only one turnover tomorrow and no in-the-inn guests.

I appreciate it. Money is not a problem at the moment - it is just I so rarely have a problem. I always have a squirrel in my credit card pouch if I need cash plus I have credit cards.
I DO need to move my tool box back into the car though. I used to always carry a socket set, wrenches, and screw drivers - once had a radiator hose blow and cut it off at the slit and put it back on. My problen with this car is that it is so low to the ground, I cannot get down to look under it. Other than that, I love this car. Honda FIT. It was easy to slide the wheelchair in and out or paintings to be transported. And if needed (as when we brought the Gold Star home) it can be made into a station wagon deck.

Hope he is OK tomorrow. Some of these bicycle people do not realize how dangerously near collapse they are until they collapse. The heat gets them because too often they do not hydrate soon enough.

They're out to dinner now. He is definitely better. They want an 8a breakfast so I'll see what their plans are and if help will be needed then. Fingers crossed.

Your weather is probably very similar to ours. It got up to 97 here yesterday! That was a record high. Of course, no air conditioning because we rarely ever get hot. Today it's back to normal. A beautiful 75 degree day is expected. You probably saved your guest from an ER visit! No hotel would ever go to the lengths we go to for our guests. You get the hospitality award :)

LOL no AC here either. I had the fans in place which helps some. DH ended up driving them to the top of our local mountain so most of their today's trip was easier, with a good long downhill start. He was driving in that direction anyway so all was well. Fortunately all other guests were from warmer climes are were amused at our reactions to the heat.
I am glad today is much cooler.

My aunt loves her Fit too. I'm glad everything worked out well! Two brownies points for Innkeep!
