Aloha Innkeepers,
New to the forum, still learning to navigate so I haven't done a search on these topics. Do Innkeepers trade with each other? A few nights at their Inn for a few nights at yours? We own a few vacation rental properties and we actively trade with other owners. Also, what are the best seminars for B&B owners? We go to a Expedia Homeaway seminar every year, fun meeting new people and learning new things about our trade.
Thanks in advance, Dr "B"

See if your State Association has an Aspiring Innkeeper seminar. I know nothing about Ex ped ia seminars, but there are innkeeping conferences that are very helpful - there are 2 national organizations (I belong to AIHP - Association of Independent Hospitality Providers) that do an annual conference and many regional and State.
In November, if you are a Veteran, Scott Busnell is giving free to 10 Vets as part of B & Bs For Vets, places in his Aspiring Innkeeper Seminar at Deep Creek Lake, Maryland.
Scott and Marilyn Bushnell, B&B Consultants for Bushnell & Bushnell (and partners of The B&B Team) will offer a complimentary one-day innkeeping workshop on November 11 (Veteran’s Day) in McHenry, MD for veterans who are aspiring to become innkeepers. Taught by West Point graduate and Army veteran, Scott Bushnell, and his wife Marilyn, this popular aspiring innkeeper workshop is one way that Scott feels he can give back to the first ten veterans who indicate they’d like to attend. In addition, the Lake Pointe Inn in Deep Creek Lake, MD will offer two complimentary rooms for two nights to veterans who attend the workshop.

Thank you gillumhouse. The expedia seminar was for vacation rentals only. I'll look into possible State Association seminars. Not a Veteran, but thank you.
There was a heading under Resources for room swap, but link was no longer there.

I don't trade, but I do throw in an extra discount if I know that they are really innkeepers. I've had a few fakes over the year.
The reason that I don't trade is that it's just too hard to do. I would rather just pay them their rate minus a small discount when I'm there. That way I'm not beholding to them and they are not beholding to me. Though... I do try to do it in cash instead of charge, so that we can cross the difference of cash as barter, if they so please.... or pocket it.
I've never had any success with this stuff. And I get these requests from bloggers from time to time. The problem with that is... if they don't disclose, they are unethical people, because the law requires them to disclose with a hashtag. If they do disclose, the question is, is it worth it, because now they look like a shill.
Besides, I'm too small for most of that kind of stuff.
