We get a fair number of repeat guests. Some are fairly consistent, coming every year, sometimes twice/year.
I hate when I don't recognize someone but they loved their last stay and tell stories about what we talked about and what they ate.
I'll ask, 'so when were you here last?' And the guest says last year. Ok, I had a lot of stressors the past couple of years. Maybe I wasn't even here when they were.
Then I look them up. Last time they were here? 10 years ago.
This one today asked how long I'VE been here. Apparently it was only Gomez who made the impression. ;-)

On our online booking form is "how did you find us" and one possible answer is "been before", If they tick that I'll look up when they were her so I know when they knock on the door.
I always say "nice to see you again, you were here in xxx 20xx, weren't you ?" even when I don't remember them.
DH say it how it is "sorry, I don't remember you".
One line which I got from someone in this forum is "in this business we only remember the problem people, so if we don't recognise you it's a good thing".

Congrats to Gomez! I try to remember that they only had two people to remember on their stay and I have thousands to remember! Those that come every year at least, I remember them. Yes, I sure remember the trouble makers! One time block the room they wanted as I talk on the phone to them than gave it to the next caller with a free upgrade! I got the deal!
