"Great story about a great lady I have had the honor to get to know though innkeeping."

Truer words were never spoken. But I wish I could know more about "the ceilings were 2 inches too short." That's just crazy!

Recently my sister turned an old building in our town into an event center (weddings, concerts, parties, etc.) and the building inspector told her the front doors (two double doors) were 2" too short. Can you imagine the expense to buy new doors and hire someone to cut a new door space and install them? Crazy. And they never give a reason for their unreasonable codes.

In her case, she told him no, she wasn't going to do that, and he said, "Oh. OK." There are a few advantages to living in small town Arkansas!
