Has TA changed they way they calculate business ratings, it's just that in the past week we've suddenly jumped to no.1 on Loch Ness, normally we're hovering around the bottom end of the top 10. It's not like we've had a sudden rush of 5* reviews.
Not that I'm complaining, I've even changed all my Adwo rds adverts to have "no1. on loch ness" as title1

Congratulations! Enjoy it. They'll probably change it again next week.

#1 in my town with other inns not even showing up. 'By Value'
When searching for a town seven miles away none of us show up while lodgings 30 miles and more away do.
Can't win.

Congrats! Enjoy while it lasts.

I never see a change, we are always #1

Of course #1 of 1 should be!

I noticed we went up one from 5 to 4. We were number 1 for the first 4 years, then suddenly, down to 5. Today or yesterday, moved up one. OK. As long as we still have guests....

Nope. We're solidly right where we've been for years. Got 3 new reviews, tho! Unasked for even.

UGH! I'm down to #7 (out of 22) for no reason that I can figure out whatsoever. I've had reviews (all 5-star) and competitors have not. I moved down, they moved up. I've been as high as #3. There's an inn that's been #1 for YEARS and I swear they're paying their guests for reviews. It just doesn't make sense.

Are you looking at the default Best Value ranking or the Traveler Ranking (that's wholly based on reviews).

It's crazy. For my own town...
When I select Traveler Ranked, they show up in this order, which makes no sense at all:
  1. The chain hotel, 3.5 bubbles, 326 reviews
  2. A local independent motel, 4 bubbles, 8 reviews
  3. Another local independent motel, 2.5 bubbles, 10 reviews
  4. Me, 5 bubbles, 40 reviews
When I select Best Value (I guess this is based on review rankings of value):
  1. The chain hotel, $84 (it says "Sponsored" by their listing)
  2. Me, $129
  3. A Holiday Inn, $86 an hour from here
  4. An independent motel, $46 30 minutes from here
When I select Lowest Price
  1. The chain hotel, $84
  2. Me, $129
And that's all it lists under Lowest Price! Even though there are 2 other local places that show up when you sort by "Traveler Ranked", only 2 of us even show up when sorted by lowest price.
TA still has a LONG way to go to get this stuff right!

I've noticed that, too. Traveler ranked, when all lodging is together, shows hotels first. Even tho every b&b in town has better ratings than any hotel. And some b&b's have more reviews than the hotels. And all the b &b's have rooms on ota.
But, it's not every time.
