Tossing Cookies

Went into a room this weekend to find an unusually high tip... a RED tip. Well, took a minute or two to figure out why.... someone had tossed some cookies. Had to decontaminate, wash everything including a rug, the bed skirt, etc. Ugh! Even tossed a towel in the trash (no... I didn't fish it out.) They forgot two items plus another an unopened bottle of the hair that bit the dog... don't think they are coming back for them. I'm more upset that they didn't just tell me, so that I knew what I was walking into, rather than leave quickly....
It's all cleaned up... and it will pay for a nice dinner. But I did do 4 loads of laundry rather than the usual 2.

Still don't have a housekeeper for the summer.... keeps on updating me on the search for one. Meanwhile, I get to keep the tips, since I'm doing it all myself. How's everyone else doing with their summer?

Good Memorial Day weekend, slow first two weeks of June, first wedding June 16, second wedding June 23, then things really start picking up!

Yes picking up. I do better with tips in the off season. Maybe more time to talk?
The tips this past weekend were from the people who ordered dinners.
They told me my baked goods donation basket to the local car show scholarship fund raiser went for $100. That's a record.
Feeling ready for the summer.

Had guests over Memorial Day! a 4-nighter. Have an Elopement June 23 and a GC Christmas present iscoming in August. Other than that, I think it is "when the phone rings" or an e-mail from RezKey. I have June27 - July 11 blockedoff while aninnkeeper from North Wales is here. I amshowingher PA, OH, WV, and VA during her 2-weeks here.

I spent a couple of days recently in NYC. LOVED it. I want to go back. We needed 4 bedrooms, and you can imagine what it would cost to rent 4 hotel rooms on Manhattan Island.
So I found a large, but not expensive apartment on VRBO near the edge of the East River in Long Island City. Our apartment windows had views of the UN, Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, and there was a subway stop right by our front door.
We were 1 stop from Grand Central Station, so we would walk out our door and minutes later be in the heart of Manhattan. We were closer to most of the sites than people paying much more to be IN Manhattan.

We never get to Vegas when Sir Elton is in town. Missed him every time.

The worst part, I have become so hypersensitive to the smell that I now smell it everywhere, even when it's not there. UGH!
