Went away for a couple of days on my own. (Thanks to Gomez and the housekeeper being able to handle everything!) Got home today after being awake for 24 hours. Did not sleep on either flight. Was awake the whole time. Spent 3 days in company with ex. I'm exhausted. Walk in house and get asked a million questions. Tell everyone to leave me alone until tomorrow. I need to sleep.
Now going on 36 hours without sleep. Still answering phones, taking reservations, getting goofy.
Gomez trying to take a reservation earlier when all of the other phones in the house start ringing. (He is easily distracted.) I try to track down all the phones to see who is calling. In the meantime, I hear Gomez say, 'There's a lot going on here, please slow down telling me...' and then he hung up.
Guest started yelling at him on the phone.

I used to be able to relax so quickly on a plane that I could be asleep before the plane took off. But today I put in my headphones and play Natalie Merchant's Tigerlily album OR I put on comedies that I have seen repeatedly on TV.

Not to take things off topic, but if any of you are still under the impression that Mort gets all the PITA guests, I was lucky enough to visit her again a few weeks ago, and her B&B was half-full of the types of guests who make me miss innkeeping.
One repeat couple, always celebrating an anniversary, but happy to learn of a new possibility for dinner and brave enough to try it out and return to give it a thumbs up. One couple of aspiring innkeepers, full of questions and curiosity and willing to listen to diverse opinions about 'the job'. One millennial couple who were travel bloggers (of course, aren't they all). All of them happy to be in the complete comfortable-ness of Mort's B&B, eating the food and enjoying the company. The only possible problem child would be the ratchet old retired innkeeper who kept trying to suck up all of Mort's time.
Mort, former owner of the PITA baton...

Thank you.

It's always a joy to see you. (All the hard lemonade is gone.)
I love those guys! Totally forgot about the travel bloggers. I did look them up, but I guess you have to subscribe to the channel to see their travel videos.
Now go write a review about how wonderful it was. ;-)
And I'm going to go look at those lobster rolls...

I hope I get to go on my extended road trip while you all are still in business! Mort is on my (good) list!
Our first guests blogged about us (in 2007). I guess they were ahead of the curve. It was very helpful for us.
:)
