Arrrgh! I used my grumpy innkeeper voice today when guest kept standing in dining room hollering 'hello?'
First it was to load up the inn fridge with purchases from the farmers market. Then directions. Then something else, I can't remember.
You know, there are times when no one is around and you're focused on getting something done and interruptions throw the whole thing into disarray.
I thought I had an hour or so to finish everything. Had to move the laundry, too.
Then, quick as they ran thru, they were gone again, but my concentration was lost.

I use it everytime someone pushes the doorbell twice... which, of course, Ms. Luggage on beautiful table did.

Rate goes up each time you push the doorbell, I'm slow not deaf, once refused to rent to a walk-in guest in the wee hours that felt he had to ring the bell 20 times and wake the house.

I yell "COMING! COMING!" at almost the top of my lungs. When I open the door, I smile sweetly and say, "It's a large house and takes a little time to get to the door." Some guests are actually polite enough to apologize.
I had a guy show up at 2am, called the inn 4x, rang the doorbell about a dozen times. Looked irate in the Ring video. Thankfully, my ringer was off and the guests on the 3rd floor never heard the bell. I called him back in the morning & asked if everything was ok, had he been in an accident and needed help? He replied in broken English was looking for a room (I'm not ripping on his language skills - his English was better than my Mandarin). Looked like he was an international college student as he was young & wearing a backpack. One of the oddest occurrences I've experienced.

.
I must admit that on more than one occasion I have answered the door then stuck my neck out, looked around and said "I don't see the postman". To give a SLIGHT hint that they are RUDE.
