Had a young couple in last night, they didn't arrive until 10.50 because of delayed flight. Checked them in, spoke briefly because it was late.
This morning I heard the front door go about 7, nothing unusual in that, people often go out for a walk, a run or even to take photos. Got up, started breakfast prep, looked out window and their car had gone. Finished breakfast prep went upstairs for something and noticed their bedroom door is ajar, so I looked in and they're gone. Bill was paid when they booked, key is on the side. No mention of leaving early.
Don't know what happened there, only 2nd time that's ever happened. Annoying thing is they were the only guests last night, so if I'd known they were going to vanish at 7 I wouldn't have had to get up early.

I hate missing out on the extra sleep! But, I've been known to go right back to bed at that point!

Eat their breakfast and get an early start cleaning their room....

Yesterday, finishing a wedding weekend: 55 people including 10 residents. Event Day bride rented a room for dressing and left it immaculate. I am wrapping breakfast for 10, the number I had counted as resident guests associated with the wedding ... and ... a couple I have never seen appears. I'm thinking, wtf and do I have enough food. Before I can go over, they wander slowly through the common area, saying not a word, out the front door and drive away. Well, that bride's dressing room wasn't immaculate anymore.

I don’t understand. What happened to the brides room?

I've had the disappearing guest experience. Came in after 11pm and was left a late-check-in letter. We expected them for breakfast, they never came down. After the other guests left we realized there were no cars left, we knocked and found they must have left before 6am. Currently the record for the shortest stay.

.
Bride rented the room just to use for the day. Didn't use bed or tub. At the end of the event, I looked in and was pleased to see she had tidied up. I was actually thinking of not charging a full rate - and no room tax since it wasn't used for overnight. But somebody did use the room that night and left it quite a mess. Presumably someone from the wedding party, but I spoke with groom yesterday -- he called with his cc info for room -- and he wasn't aware of who it may have been. Well, ... when you run an inn ...
