Staying at a little place ... NH/MA border ... there were dirty underpants in the bathroom next to the toilet. I checked in three hours ago, went right out and met a friend and had a nice time. Came back and there they were. Just gave me the most yucky feeling ... lax housekeeping I suppose but what else might have been missed? Was the bathroom floor even cleaned? My sight isn't the best but these were hard to miss. Then I wondered if they were possibly being used as a cleaning rag! They are dirty but not dirty water dirty. OMG, I'm overthinking this. Had a bit too much wine and have got the giggles.
I put them in the little trashbag that was in the wastebasket. Tied it up and have them on the floor in there. No one's around to talk to and I don't want to make a big fuss. I'll give them to the innkeeper tomorrow I guess. I don't even know what to say. Would be funny if he's on here and can rant about me as a problem guest. All I know is they aren't mine.
I am not asking for a refund. But I'm taking a second look at everything right now ... ewww!

Not not a comforting feeling. I suppose over time I’ve stayed in places both nice and yucky, try to tell myself that things do slip by the innkeeper and at times I suppose I got what I had paid for, at least once I ran after a few hours as rowdy folks passed outside.

I've missed an entire dresser full of clothes, but not something obviously on the floor. Ugh!

Time to get one of those bodily fluids detector lights...ewwwww!.

Each member of our houskeeping team has one of these. Helps us spot accidents since we're dog-friendly. We try not to think of other things.

Well
Fine night's sleep as I never sleep that well away from home anyway.
I brought the panties in the bag to the innkeeper in the morning and privately told him I found someone's underwear on the floor of my bathroom when I checked in and that I'd put them in the bag.
His response? 'huh' . That's all. 'huh'. .... before taking the bag and tossing it into the open trash barrell just outside the kitchen. And walking away.
No, I didn't stay for breakfast.

The only appropriate response to such a thing is, in order:
a) Horror
b) Apologies and assurances that it will be taken care of
c) Prayer meeting with housekeeping staff
