Generally-speaking we answer the phone from 9-9 and don't answer it after 9 pm. Sometimes we shut the office down earlier and don't answer the phone because we can't take a reservation and callers get grumpy. Our message tells callers to go to the website if they want to book immediately, or leave us a message and we'll call back.
Caller last night rang at 8:57. I didn't answer as I was not in the best frame of mind and the computer was off. I returned the call this morning. I was greeted with a person sarcastically asking if we *ever* answered the phone as they'd been calling everyday for weeks and no one ever answered. (After hanging up I checked our caller id and she called a couple of days ago, 3 times in a row at the same time. No message.)
I said they must not have been calling this number (As I hadn't seen the caller id at that point) and explained we were a B&B and we go to bed early, but someone is answering the phone all day during the day. She said they *finally* decided to leave a message to see if *anyone* would bother to return their call.
Geez Louise. NO ONE calls 'everyday for weeks' to make a reservation. I have no idea what her problem was or why she took that attitude but my horoscope advised me to not get sucked into drama, so I'm letting this go. I have changed our office hours on Google in case that's where she saw it. And now I'm changing it on our answering machine.

I would say add her number to your phone list under "Annoying". Then when she calls tomorrow, your ID will warn you. Then you can decide whether you are too busy or not to answer.

I would have been tempted to use the old technique of hanging up while I am in mid-sentence. Not as rude as hanging up when THEY are in mid-sentence, but accomplishes the goal of ending the call. I'm not interested in dealing with someone like this person.

I don't often take phone calls, but when they are that annoying, it reminds me of why.

1. Did she make a reservation?
2. Did you have a room available?
With an attitude like that, I don’t think I’d have any vacancy!

No and no. I was going to refer her, but not with the snark. My guess is they weren't really planning to book anyway or they would have done it online 'weeks ago.'
