Happy New Year!
I had my Air rep call me... yes.. I have an Air rep. Don't know if this is because I'm registered as a business or because I'm connected via the API... but I have a rep.
We had a discussion in email about my listing and Air and pricing and they are apparently working on weeding out people who aren't "B&B" from those listing themselves as B&B. In any case, she was commenting on how I was more expensive than a "competitor"... except this wasn't really a B&B, this was an Air that was trying to act as if it was.
Turned out that for short stays I was cheaper but for long stays the other place was cheaper... why? Because I don't have a cleaning fee. But there was one MAJOR difference, I served breakfast, they put breakfast items in the fridge, so you had to cook breakfast and then clean the table and then wash the dishes and put them all back. In other words... I was leisure and theirs was work.
End result is that we changed my titles. Still not happy with them, but they are getting better. Anyone else have suggestions? Anyone else on the API?

I don’t know if their rules are different for you or not. Here they want to control everything except problems caused by the guests.

We have to be ada accessible. We have to take children. We have to allow a time lapse between the booking and the payment if the guest claims it’s a group and the other people need time to gather the money.
But that’s just for legitimate businesses, everyone else can do what they want.
Were you able to sign up as a business or did they contact you? I tried to sign up as a business but could not.
However, this year I may try harder to overlook their rules and just do what we do.

I signed up and made the deposit to the commercial account and specified that it was a company. But they didn't specify anything like ADA compliance... then again, we don't have the ADA and the standards are different from province to province. But we still have the same thing about children, number of people etc.
The one thing that's a problem and the reason we have "STRICT" instead of "FLEXIBLE" is their 5 day notice instead of 7 day. I need 7 days to resell a room... 5 days just isn't enough. And then they tried to get me to put the rates down further than elsewhere... but there is a parity clause.... and they said that the other sites can't get their rates... yup... not happening.
This year they finally set up a system so that they can charge the taxes as per the law. Which makes things easier for me. But the other site... X they are now paying the hotel tax for me, so I manually have to remove it. Annoying!
