I usually get 5 or 6 reservations/year from locals, mostly renting a place for visiting relatives.
I've received EIGHT reservations from locals in the last 2 weeks. All one night, and spaced out on different days. So it's not like they are a group of friends planning a party. I don't know, but I suspect it's just people tired of the shutdowns and stress and looking for a "staycation" getaway.
I'm going to run a Facebook ad aimed at just a 50-mile radius around my town. I suspect there are a lot of people out there wanting a little getaway but not wanting to travel far.

Arks, I think that's a great idea.
I am in Massachusetts ... our numbers are so terribly high. But I'd love to book in someplace else for a night or two.

You're not alone. We've gotten lots of calls from Massachusetts. Have had to turn everyone down.

I had to cancel one of the local reservations. Turns out it was an 18 year old girl who used the parent's CC to reserve a room tonight for her and her 17 y.o. boyfriend! Luckily the mother found out and contacted me. Happy to give a full refund on that one!
