Traffic report for selling a B&B
I thought I'd share some interesting stats I've been gathering from having my B&B listed for sale.
I have a business for sale page that is referenced in all places where there are listings for my B&B. Here is the traffic breakdown for the past 8 days.
| Source | Unique Visitors | Cost |
| www.bbonline.com | 117 | $150 / 6 months * |
| www.bedandbreakfastforsale.com | 107 | $588 / 6 months * |
| search engines | 19 | Free |
| County MLS (multiple listing service) | 4 | included |
| Local Realtor's site (my agent) | 6 | included |
| local B&B directory I run | 6 | Free |
| www.innshopper.com | 17 | Free |
| www.lakehouse.com This is one all the realtors in the area typically pay to be listed on if they are selling lake property. | 1 | $49 / 6 months |
* I negotiated with my Realtor to pay these. They agreed but didn't think anything would come from them. So far the 4 inquiries they had and the two showings they have done so far have come from these sites. My agent has already admitted they are total converts now. They are good agents in the area and move a lot of property, but they don't have much experience in B&B sales.
Also to be fair I should mention that the bedandbreakfastforsale.com listing went live immediately, but the bbonline listing was delayed by 4-5 days as they still do things manually.

This is good info, but I wish I was sending you more traffic!
A few thoughts:
The bedandbreakfastforsale.com listing doesn't have an internal landing page, just basic info in the search results. If you want to know more you have to click on your website link (no internal landing page). Compare that to the presentation on bbonline, and I suspect you are really getting way more exposure from the latter.
Also, I have two links to your site: one is the sale page: http://www.winecountrycabins.com/sale/bb.htm and the other is the main site: http://www.winecountrycabins.com/. Let me know if both links should be pointing to the sale page.
Glad to hear that you are getting some inquiries.
Zach

Oooh that's a good point Zach. I forgot that both pages were listed. I just re-ran my count to include both pages and the number increased from 2 to 17 unique visitors. (I edited the post above to reflect that). If they hit the main site link first and then went to the sale page they wouldn't have shown as unique visitors because they were already on the site earlier.
To your credit I have run across your site quite a few times as I check out various searches for the area. I have also had your Press Release about my place listed for sale show up as it triggers a google alert.
I also think your positioning will start to show a larger jump (and a resulting increase in traffic) once you make it beyond your anniversary date in August. You've got a good base built... a little patience will pay off.

I have to agree with Swirt here. I peruse the B&B's for sale on all the main sites. I honestly like yours the best. The content is very up-to-date, it's easily navigated, and the the info is right at my fingertips.
You've got a good thing going...just hang on. You're making headway in a market that is tough to get a foothold.
Well thank you both very much! I'm in it for the long haul so slow and steady is just fine with me.
