I just added a Summer Special to our website in the hopes of drumming up some business. We have no reservations after the 4th of July weekend

until the Fall. Of course, I still need to get on the directories, which should help, and the Convention & Visitors Bureau folks will be here next week to check us out before we're added to their site.
My innkeeper friend has a similar special on her site to try & get her Friday nights booked (she's a getaway place & people are only booking Saturdays now for some reason). My special is for booking online - I am offering 25% off the second night and they can also get 10% off a couple of our add-on packages for that stay as well. They'll still get $10 off the first night for booking online which I offer to everyone.
The large inn here has lowered their rates from $20-$40 per night until Sept 1st (of course their regular rates are $195-$345 per night).
Does anyone have something that's working for them so far? Thanks!

When July hits me I'll be reeling... no need for specials!! August is looking slim, but it's a ways off yet. Weren't you the one who said people seem to be booking two weeks out?
=)
Kk.

I guess I should look at this as how do I get guests in Feb! We do lower prices, we offer AAA discounts, have a dinner pkg, stuff like that.
I would play up prox to a major city for a romantic getaway. Even when it's freezing here, local people come just to get out of their own house.

Kk..
Actually, it seems like they're starting to book like about a week out now. July is a dead month here due to the heat. Also, the season for shows, plays, etc. all resume in late August, early September. The university is back in session, etc. Then, I've had the last 2 weeks of June blocked out now because I was gone & then sick :-( Hopefully, the Fall will pick up.
I just got a call for a booking for tonight, which of course I had to refer away...

I have a lot of Specials but the only one that is a discount is the Deployment and the military/police one. I did do a special on how to spend your incentive check and that did get a taker. I said they would get to keep $200 of it to spend as they liked. My package was for $400 and I pay the tax. I have had several military and police (last police stayed 4 nights and left a $20 tip) and I have been getting iLoveinns and StashTea BOGOs. What surprises me is the amount of weekday travel I have been getting.
I did give a very nice price to the family from Denmark who are coming in July for the whole house. I think the hook that got them (over and above the price) was Mom & Dad get their own room and the drive-in, the kids have never been to a drive-in.

The inn just south of me says her weekday traffic has really picked up.
=)

and there ya go, a booking for SUN night - tomorrow (got it at 10pm here for tomorrow) I am getting travelers on Sunday nights as people can't stand the airlines anymore

My July is filling nicely. Monday night I have a 50th anniversary honeymoon and they are bringing friends on their honeymoon.
I cannot remember this much weekday traffic - but I LOVE it!! And a lot of our bookings have been packages.
