I agree that B&Bs should be offered as an option, even though I understand the room quota for the conference. They won't have any trouble meeting the quota though as there are probably not enough B&B rooms to even make a dent in the attendees. People will want to just be able to walk out of their rooms to the meetings.
Our chamber here costs beaucoup bucks to join and they don't promote the B&Bs at all. (Well, now there is only one.) Plus, there's no way that I could ever have gone to any of the meetings to network. Very disappointing support really for most small businesses here....
We just went to a wedding which did not have the reception at any of the local hotels, yet that was all that was on the recommended lodging list that was sent out/posted on their wedding website. Interstate hotels only. My friend of course KNOWS that we used to own a B&B and was actually SURPRISED when I told her that we were staying at one of the local B&Bs. Huh?? Our innkeeper was fantastic and the other wedding guests didn't know what they were missing for just a few dollars more. We didn't have to cook our own waffle in the morning, that's for sure!!
People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy.
