T/A changed format & now B&B is BELOW Hotels-1/2 way down the page!

As of a day or so, Trip Advisor has combined their "Hotels" & "B&B" categories such that you have to scroll 1/2 way down the page to find the "B&Bs," which then begin again with #1...

Many people will likely not look that far, or look quickly & go through the first couple of listings (ALL Hotels!) Even though we are #1 for B&B, we are now located far down in the list. GRRR!

For those INN keepers who are interested in having their voices heard regarding the new TA Hotel and B&B layout, I recommend they email the following people at TripAdvisor:

Brian Payea Trade Relations Manager - bpayea@tripadvisor.com
April Robb Communications Specialist - arobb@tripadvisor.com
Stephen Kaufer CEO - SKaufer@tripadvisor.com

Thank you Paradise!   I just emailed bpayea@tripadvisor.com and requested the same privilege as some of the hotels in our city- to be listed in 3 places.

Have a good weekend.

We have less than 20 lodging properties in our town, and they have been listing them together for quite some time, but there still is a tab for B&Bs.  I like the together listing at the moment, as we are listed first!

It's probably being rolled out 'server by server' same as the other things we've all noticed changing but that not everyone sees at the same time.

I noticed that for my city there is a seperate tab for b&b's.  The interesting thing is that there are not any b&b's listed on the hotel side, but there are hotels listed under the b&b's.    And then there is a specialty section that has a motel.  A motel is not a specialty/the rest in that chain are under hotels.   If I have time later I will contact someone at TA.

Good luck with that! I have contacted them several times aboutl the motels in our B & B section and about the B & B that lists its "avg. rate" as 59 when it's lowest rate is really 110. No response.

What I have found is they will only listen to 'complaints' about other properties if you accuse them of stuffing their reviews. Pricing is something that TA pulls itself based on what they find online in other places. (That's what they told me about how they came up with my pricing when I complained.)

If a property lists a special, they take that into consideration. If they post rates on Expedia, that's a biggie. There's a hotel here with rates that run upwards of $300/night and they regularly show their rates on TA as 'starting at' $99. And it's that 'starting at' or 'as low as' that is the kicker. They may have ONE special running for 2 rooms, but they 'start at' $99.

I complained about a place listed in the B&B section in my town that is a motel. Not only a motel, but it is in another state. It shows up all the time if you look for lodging in my town. I'd think they'd WANT that changed to avoid confusion, but they don't.

Yes, we have been discussing this on another thread.

 oops. apologies.

here is the reply I received from TA:

Hello,

At TripAdvisor, we are always trying to improve the way we list businesses. Recently, we began listing hotels, B&B's, and inns together for all geographical locations that have less than 20 properties listed. Since this is a brand new policy, we will carefully be reviewing it in the near future in order to determine whether it will be a permanent policy. I will forward your feedback to the appropriate department.

Kind regards,

Tyler
