These are just bargain shoppers. They don't care what you have to offer..they just want the cheapest price they can get. Sorry...the minute I heard that..it turned me off and I didsn't even want those kind of people staying. T$$$ .... I get a few calls a week from people "what are your rates?" "What day are looking for and I will check my availability" "Tonight" (or Tueday, or Friday- doesn't matter), I quote the room rates available and with the 10% off last minute availability. "Thanks" "would you like to book a room?" "no thank you"
Occassionally I will ask "what is your budget" sometimes it is 1/2 of my lowest price. And my rates are the lowest in town for a b&b and very competitive. That is when I tell them about the Motel 6 or Microtel. They won't find a better deal than mine, still comes down to the $.
They never asked about amenities, what does breakfast consist of, location- just price..
I figure I have lost them when they balk at the price. They are not interested in what comes with the room, they just don't want to pay that price. So, I now ask what price did they think they were going to pay or what price are they willing to pay? And they balk again. I tell them I am not going to negotiate with them, I am just going to tell them where they can get a room for that rate. They then tell me. And it's generally another $40 off the rate I quoted.$$$ .... I get a few calls a week from people "what are your rates?"
