Description

This looks fairly easy to make.

Ingredients

2pkactive dry yeast
1cwarm water
1cmilk
3Tsugar
2 1⁄2tsalt
3Tbutter
5call purpose flour
1 1⁄2ccheddar cheese, grated

Instructions

Sprinkle the yeast into warm water. Heat milk. Pour into large bowl containing sugar, salt, and butter. Cool tro lujewarm. Stir in dissolved yeast. Add 3 cups flour. Beat 6 minutes. Gradually add enough remaining flour to make soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured board. Knead until smooth, no longer sticky (about 10 minutes). Place into greased bowl and cover with clean towel, let rise until doubled in size (1 to 1 1/2 hours). Punch down. Knead in 1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese. Divide in half and shape into rounds. Place in 2 9-inch greased round cake pans to rise in warm place until almost double (30 - 40 min). Bake in 375 F pre-heated oven 40 to 45 min..

I am going to try to make this tomorrow to see how is comes out. Will take pix.

I made it last night with shredded mild cheddar. I want to try it again with grated sharp cheddar to see if it changes it. With the shredded, there are bit of cheddar here and there. Never having had it before, I really do not know WHAT it is supposed to be. Also no pix with this bathch because I had the call to escort the horse people in just as I was putting it to raise - and it raised for too long - both the first raise and in the bread pans (overflowed - not a pretty loaf).
