Thanks! This is almost exactly like I did my apple butter. What's nice about it that after it cooks awhile you can go in and taste it and see if you need to add more sugar or spices to your liking.

Spiced Pear Butter
Ingredients
Instructions
There are no specific amount to this. Peal about 3 lbs of pears. Cut in half and scoop out the core (an olive spoon works best for me). Put pealed pears into crock pot. Sprinkle with a few tbls sugar and cinnamon. I like a lot of nutmeg and a little bit of cloves in mine, so I add it. A pinch of salt and a TINY bit of water. Put the lid on it and turn it on low heat. Let cook for at least 8 hours.
When all the pears are soft, I use my immersion blender and puree it all a little bit. If it's too watery, leave the cover off for about an hour. I like mine chunky, so I don't blend it all the way smooth.
Put into washed and sterilized pint jars. Wipe rims. Put rings on and process in hot water bath for 15 minutes. Let cool.
I made this recipe up and it varies from year to year. We love it on breads, but it is also a good braising meduim for pork, ham, or chicken. I like to use it in the bottom of my pan with the meat and then baste with the sweet goodness.
