Description
Delicious and different snack spread that we put out for an open house, it was very well received and everyone asked for the recipe. The red onion gives it a nice little bite so dice very finely and add a little bit at a time, to your taste.
Ingredients
| 1 | c | philadelphia brand whipped cream cheese spread |
| 1⁄2 | c | sour cream |
| 1 | large apple, finely chopped | |
| 1⁄4 | c | crumbled blue cheese |
| 1⁄4 | c | very finely chopped red onion |
| 1⁄4 | c | chopped toasted pecans* |
Instructions
Beat cream cheese spread and sour cream in medium bowl until well blended. Add apples, blue cheese, onions and pecans; mix well. Cover. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight. Serve as a spread with Triscuit crackers.
*To toast pecans: Drizzle melted butter over whole pecans. Place on cookie sheet in 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes, turning once or twice until both sides are golden brown. Place in zip top storage bag and crumble with meat tenderizer to chop.
Notes
For a unique dip container, cut top off and hollow out a large red apple. Stand upright on serving platter and fill with dip just before serving. Surround with crackers.
My pleasure
We personally really liked it and are enjoying the leftovers. It's very hearty and I imagine would keep for a few days. I did sprinkle the apple bits with Fruit Fresh to prevent browning but I don't know if you would even really see it with everything else that is in there...I tried to scan the picture from the recipe booklet but the resolution was too low, if you Google Image search the dip name you can get an idea of how it looks.
