Description
A Christmas cookie that requires chilling
Ingredients
| 3⁄4 | c | butter |
| granulated sugar | ||
| 1 | t | grated orange peel |
| 1 | egg | |
| 2 | c | all purpose flour |
| 1⁄4 | t | salt |
| 1 | egg white | |
| green sugar | ||
| red cinnamon candies |
Instructions
Cream butter; add 1/2 cup sugar, orange rind, and egg. Beat until light. Add flour and salt. Chill several hours or until firm enough to roll. Roll to 1/8 in thickness. Cut with floured 2 inch doughnut cutter. Put on cookie sheets. Beat egg white until foamy and add 2 Tablespoons sugar gradually and beat until stiff. Brush cookies with misture. Decorate cookies with green sugar and red cinnamon candies. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 - 12 minutes. Remove to wire racks while hot. Yeild: Approx. 4 dozen
