Description

My guests love this cake! It is really an old recipe which I have made for years! It is very easy to make. It is rich, fudgy and moist. This cake freezes very well also. I  usually just frost it with a can of "store-bought" chocolate frosting.

Ingredients

3cflour
2cwhite sugar
6Tcocoa
2tbaking soda
1tspsalt
2⁄3ccanola oil
2Twhite vinegar
2tvanilla extract
2cwater

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine togehter the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and  salt.

Make a well in this mixture and add the oil, vinegar, vanilla and water. Beat on a medium speed till combined well.

Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min. or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool on a rack and frost with your favorite icing.

There are no eggs or dairy in this recipe? That's great, then, for vegans too! I always have trouble with desserts for vegans since most of my go-to recipes have eggs or dairy or both.

Speaking of cakes...where did you find your 6" cake pans for individual birthday, anniversary cakes?  I can't find them here so I guess I have to go online.  Thanks!

Michael's craft store has a Wilton baking section and perhaps Joanne fabric/craft store does as well.

Last September I baked for our county fair's competition.  I was at Wal-Mart and discovered they have a separate section for cake baking, with good Wilton pans, in a totally different area of the store than the other cake pans.  Their selection wasn't very big though.  If you have a cake supply store, they would definitely have them.

I would absolutely recommend the Wilton pans, worth every penny!  And you can definitely order them from Wilton in all different sizes.

=)  Kk.

Nope, not in that section at Wally World.  No cake decorating store here, although there is an upscale gourmet cooking store but I rarely get to that area of town
