OK so who are you and why would be pick your system over all the ones Innkeepers know and use and get support???  How about posting a few sites who actually use this system so we can see it in action without having to sign up first.

You might want to think about changing your name. I don't think I would want a customer receiving a email confirmation from a company named moonicorn. Just sayin!

Hi Justin, as you can see we are a sceptical bunch and need to be when we are trusting someone with our most precious data.  Please add a little more about your company such as how long you have been in business and maybe a list of some customers that use your system and would not mind speaking to others that may be interested.  TY

Wow... not even a version where we can see what it looks like from the standpoint of either client or server. It's like completely BLIND!

For what it is worth, Justin did post here back in 2010 asking for feedback on the product he was developing.  He got a few answers but it was not enough to keep the thread from getting removed when I was doing some automated pruning of  threads that didn't have much content.  (I do that from time to time on content over 18 months old and fewer than 5 responses.)

Hi everybody. I run a Hostel in New Mexico, I hope it is OK to post here as it is not a Inn or B&B.

Justin from Moonicorn asked me to post a comment here. I am not affiliated with Moonicorn, or do I receive any discounts for posting here. I am just really happy with his service and don't mind telling you about it.

I used to have an Online booking system via the Hostel Handbook, but they dropped it because nobody used it. It took me while to find what I was looking for, a booking engine that also uses Paypal and is simple and cost effective. I will recieve two emails after booking a room. One from Monicorn confirming the reservation and one from PayPal that I received a payment. It is really easy to add or delete reservation in my acccount. Approx.70% of my bookings are online. The customer can pay with PayPal or credit card.

Justin was really helpful in setting everything up  and adding features so it works for me. His fee is really reasonabel and he reponds fast to questions. As for the name of the company I never had a customer complain about the name. Here is my website feel free to check it out. www.cloudcrofthostel.com. If you need to know more please contact me and again I am not associated with Moonicorn, only a happy customer.

First time visitors to the forum who only post these sorts of accounts are really not all that exciting for us and typically get banned by the administrator, why not post all this on helpful Justin's website as a testimonial instead, then when we click on it we will see it.

I knew you would feel like this. I had send my reviews to Justin to post on the website, not sure what happend to them. I agree he should add customer reviews on his website. I am sorry I did not wnat to step on anybodys toes and as I said I am not associated with moonicorn, just like his service.

As someone who is just starting and is checking out tons of booking solutions -  I do find it helpful that Justin posted a link to his product here, and I do appreciate seeing how Luna is making use of it.  That being said, I would not consider this as the solution right now because of, well, trust.  In addition to examples of live sites, I need more information about how it works and how data is stored to even put it down on my nifty spreadsheet of potential solutions.

I understand that when you're first starting out with anything, that it is hard to have a large customer base, but when I'm looking for a solution for my inn, I want to know that the company has enough resources to support, backup my data.  I want to know if the company quits offering its services that my data will be secure.

I think the issue is that Justin is a software developer geek (sorry Justin), and he developed a tool and spent a lot of time with the functionality.  He probably has as much attachment to his tool as we do to our inns.  But he looks at a new tool, like a software developer looks at a new tool (gotta try it out, want to see what's under the hood) and he wants to provide that ability to others (well, all you've got to do is sign up and try it out!)  Where as we think, why should I make this a solution to my site, and especially for those who have currently working solutions - why should I make the investment  of my time in this.

Justin, some of the more helpful sites that I have come across offer an immediately available demo account to access.

Thank you Luna for sharing access to Moonicorn's visitor interface through your website.

I understand that Moonicorn uses Paypal for payments, which affords some level of security on that end.  Even with that in mind though, I would want a web form on the Moonicorn side that does a bit more verification on the form being submitted.  Yes it did prevent me from submitting an empty form , but "42-55" is not a valid phone number and should have been rejected.    "23" is not a valid zip code and should have been rejected. "2" is not a valid city and should have been rejected.  Validating these on the server side are things that should have been done to protect innkeepers from invalid submissions.

Catlady and copperhead were asking about sites that use our service, and Luna has been a customer that offered without solicitation to write a testimonial for us in the past. We prefer not to use customer testimonials on our site as we prefer to let our service speak for itself.

The question CafeMae made:

"why should I make this a solution to my site, and especially for those who have currently working solutions - why should I make the investment  of my time in this."

To answer that I would say that it depends if you think you are getting the value for your money with your current provider?  We, at Moonicorn, are trying to provide a service that meets the needs of owners at a lower total cost to them, both in terms of time and money.  We have been around since 2009.  Our service is reliable with 99.998% uptime.  We have many happy customers.  We offer SSL encryption in our widgets.  Customer data is fully exportable in multiple formats, as we do not lock your data in our service.  We also offer very reasonable rates.

Thanks all who provided constructive feedback.

-Justin

I really do not like the way you are soliciting business here. You have posted on a forum that people post comments and questions on and as a group we tell it as it is. You might like some of our feed back. Some of the feed back you might not like. I personally have a reservation program that I love. Im not going to mention any names. ( it does start with Reservation and ends in Key). I looked for a company that would take our advice and actually make changes with suggestions from innkeepers. After all we are the ones that have to use the program, not you! There have been some really great questions that you have choose to dodge and I don't like that. I really think you need to regroup and come back with a different approach . Especially after what Swirt said about the way you set up your account on this Forum.....I also am still having a hard time with your name! " Moonicorn" If I was a customer and just reserved a room. I would have to double check and make sure I didn't just order a Cow or a Unicorn. Best of luck!
