Print it yourself photo books

Visit the website>>> Blurb.com

Had a guest here who brought a book she made online at blurb.com. It was truly amazing. The entire 30 page book was photos of her vacation. The photos were printed from edge to edge of the book (8x10), altho she said you could also get all 'tizzy' and do a scrapbooking sort of layout as well. This was a bound book with the title printed on the front. She suggested it as a great idea for reunions. The more pages in the book, the lower the price per each and the more copies ordered the lower the price per each.

The way the site is set up, you upload all the photos, layout the book and then email anyone you think might like to purchase it. That person goes online and orders it with their own credit card.

It could be a wonderful guest room book with seasonal photos, all the room photos, breakfast, etc along with any commentary you want. Recipe book comes to mind as well. Order the size of the book you want and sell them.

I was amazed by the quality of the book itself as well as the color in the photos.

I would also suggest this as a wedding gift from the bride & groom to their parents, etc. Great gift for parents of new baby to give to grands. (I'm sending this hint to BOTH dds.)

Haha. I clicked on the title of this thread thinking "blurb!"

I used them for mini wedding photo albums to give to our parents! Haven't done my OWN yet, but plan to use them again.

Being in the graphic design industry, the printing quality wasn't quite up to my standards on the small books but I got an update from them that they've just upgraded the little books (which were done on a different press) to the same quality as the larger books, so I'm due for a new order!

By the way, in case you're interested in selling cookbooks or anything else, another great thing about Blurb is that you can set your own price (at-cost, $5 more, $10 more, whatever) and make some profit!

I found their layouts a bit restrictive, but if you're not software-spoiled like me, the program is great, easy to use, and has a lot of choices.

Have fun!

Good info about the quality vs the size of the book. The one I saw was 8x 10 and I was very surprised it looked as good as it did.

Wouldn't it be great to scan in all the old family pics and put them together in a book like this!
