Second set of guests in a month are here to look at B&B's in the state. Everyone looking at the same places, too! We are definitely seeing an uptick in lookers. (Not buyers as the places are still for sale.)

A lady from Australia said to me the other day " I'd love to buy this house and do what you do"........ I said "Come back in August and I'll probably give it to you!!"
don't get me started - looking at the calendar for next year and looks like a full house for 2 months! im not allergic to the money but 1 quiet week in their somewhere would be good!
Do yourself a favor and schedule it. Otherwise you KNOW what will happen. Better to be a few $$$ short than to burn out in another year or two.

We had that happen this year. Dithered around deciding and someone booked 5 nights that we were going to take off. So, next year is already blocked.
We've made the Same mistake this year too.
Had a break at the start of July, have one day off in August and then nothing till September. It's not enough and we're both showing signs of fatigue.
We have 5 straight days in August with zero bookings! I'm thinking about inviting my parents to come for a visit!
This is the first year we have blocked out time in high season. And I am soooo glad we did! I made a promise to myself that I would not run myself ragged again this yeat. So once we passed a certain $$$ of bookings, I sat down, found the dates that were not booked in either suite, and blocked them out. There were even a few dates that were completely empty...now they are OURS!!
Tonight we have guests in the cottage only so DH will deliver breakfast while I stay in my PJs in the main house. Tomorrow we go full tilt again and are full for a couple of weeks before we get a full 4 days completely off....well, that is unless our niece and kids decide to visit. But family is not really WORK.... is it?
I have the week of August 6 blocked so I can go to Municipal League - and have the roofer scheduled to make use of that week to roof the house - only DH will be here since the long-terms found an apartment. He can start at daylight before the heat hits if he wants to.
also what I want to know is why when you are tired and looking forward to an early night - we had 7 checkin's 6 of which were in by 6pm - last one 11pm!!!! (our last check in time is 9.30) chap did apologise as I went to the door in my PJ's on purpose - felt like saying did your hand fall off that you couldn't phone?
Its like a jinx! when you don't care they call come early when you could really do with an early night they all mess you about!
It's the Monster Swim on Loch Ness today, so agreed with a couple checking in today that they could drop their bags off at 9am, go do the swim and then come back later.
7.30 they arrived!!!! It was only because the young family that left this morning asked for an early breakfast that I wasn't in my PJs.
