I'm going to try it, but it would be nice if they could spell...'What's you score?'
And, amazingly, something I am working on right now is the one thing I scored a big, fat 0 on. Good thing I'm working on it!

Answer these 10 questions and get an instant 2009 readiness score for your site.
This is a brief questionaire from BookT - after completing it you can read the REASONS why on the scoring.
from BookTLLC posted on a travel, tourism and hospitality forum on linkedIn.
Although the travel industry as a whole is reporting declines, 70% of consumers completed their travel booking online in 2008, and more consumers are searching for and booking their travel online. eMarketer is predicting that online travel bookings in 2009 will grow by 10.5% to reach $116.1 billion, primarily as a result of a dramatic shift from the offline to online channel.
Knowing this, resort and hotel managers need to understand that their online business starts and ends with their website. Websites that are inefficient and not geared to maximize revenues, cross-sell opportunities or increasing online visibility are literally killing their business.
We at Bookt constantly encounter websites that are so bad, they actually chase customers away. Here’s an example: pop-ups. Don’t you love them? Didn’t think so. Then why is it that so many booking engines appear as a pop-up completely separate from the rest of the site? Other examples include sites that don’t have enticing images of destinations or quick availability search in the top area of the home page – right where consumers’ eyeballs are hovering. You have just a few seconds to make an impression - use them well.
What do you think? Are the questions we ask the right ones, or do you see other reasons why some companies gain online advantage while others fall behind?

I scored 10 on all items except the site map which has been on my to-do list, so I got that done last night, then bulleted the list this morning. I am sure a site map is a work in progress as well - adjusting it when you add content. I have to remember to do that with additions/deletions.
I missed the site map question completely. The one I was working on was the currency converter. That means I did worse than I thought!
Sorry but I don't think a currency converter is something a site needs!!! If somene wants to know they easily do it on line somewhere. Remember, this is a company out looking for business!

Currency converters were discussed on a news item or newsletter from one of the big directories a year or 2 ago. When our droopy dollar was looking really hot to their Euro/Pound exchange rate. I did add it to our reservations main page back then. I don't like it tho, not into gadgets and little icons all over pages. So I left it there.
I posted this article as it is good food for thought, the company who owns the test did not post it. I think it is beneficial for many to see what S/B on their website, maybe they have missed something that the world of travelers are looking for?
The title says alot. Many innkeepers are sending guests running from their websites and assume because noone complains (and why would they) that they have the perfect website.
I didn't even go there!
Yeah I saw that. I actually didn't read much on the site because I knew they were a company pushing THEIR work. THough some of their things definitely make sense, I don't know if it is worth of those prices....though I know many who have spent 5-10K on their B & B sites.
