Update on Me, and Question on Square

Thanks all for your input. We may decide to switch over to Square as there's no commitment, other than needing to renew the account if you don't process anything in a 2-year period. They also have the free Square Register app, which though very basic, provides a nice POS system for small...

Update on Me, and Question on Square

So confusing, Arks. I don't get it. The bank percentage is 1.99% but by the time you add the processing fees (and there is a ton of them), at least for the first month it came out to about 4%. I thought I'd hear people say that the "extra" cost of using Square at 2.75 was worth it due to the...

Update on Me, and Question on Square

Hi Everyone ... wow, once again it's been a long time since I've checked in and contributed. Last time, we were looking at a retro local motel (I must say, still like that one) and since then a local "dive bar" came on the market and we finally bit the bullet and bought the place. OMG, we...

Good luck to your friend. My Uncle had a heart transplant and went on to participate in the Senior Olympics. Great things are possible!

    Preemie - Cannot find booties

I think that is the sweetest thing ever. Doesn't matter what they look like; they will "feel" wonderful once they're on.

Another Inn for sale in VA

This place HAS been for sale for a long time. Previous owners wrote an interesting book about innkeeping after their experience with it (drawing a blank on the person and book title at the moment). If you took this property and plopped it down somewhere more appealing, it would be fabulous...

    Tea Room is OPEN!

Wow, you have really done a great job. It is stunning, and those chairs, what a great finishing touch. Best of luck!

Forum Topic here got me thinking....What do most Innkeepers wear daily ?

I know I've read posts on here where aprons are worn. So, are aprons of some sort worn only when dealing with breakfast? Or, are there other times they are worn? Does anyone consistently wear logo'd attire?

    Breakfast at Denny's

HJ ... what exactly is a "dodgy ticker?" :)

Do you ever feel you oversold yourself or your area?

We have very successful inn in the next town to us, but within the general area where we live, meaning it's a fairly well-known tourist area incorporating that town, our town and several other towns around us. Anyway, they do a great job, but when I read their website and their social media...

    Breakfast at Denny's

Maddie, just want to be sure I'm understanding what you're saying. The adult son came every day and got breakfast, for free?

    Would you do this?

I love the idea that the card becomes an ornament, and I like the snowman as well. The CD would go in the trash (sorry) and thus the imprint would be lost. I would prefer a card that becomes an ornament that retains the imprint on the ornament.

    Which perk would you prefer?

This is a great topic and one I feel I can answer from a guest's POV. I am in agreement with Kathleen on most points. Thing is, I frequent casinos (okay, you laugh :), but depending on the loyalty program they have, you could get any one or all of the things listed here. Free upgrade, nah...

    Sit Where You Like

I was working at my moonlighting job this morning. I'm normally there in the evenings for events, but this morning the "event" was a breakfast. Anyway, I had a chuckle and thought of all of you and this thread. There was 4-top table, but it was only set for 3 (I can't remember now why only...

How do you cut your strawberries?

When I look at this Wiki site, the first thing I notice is that, when I pull the green tops off from a strawberry, I never ever get them to come off like the "plug" in that first photo. :( I pull the green, slice in half, "v" out the little bitter stem in the middle and then quarter, if using...
