    Would you lie?

No, 7% of the business comes from this source. I tried explaining it better in the post to seashanty why it is tough to drop out, and the group knows that so they feel no need to keep the rates in line with what businesses can afford. They lost a lot of big accounts last year because the big...

    Would you lie?

There is also a separate B&B rate at $200/room (you can use that if it works out better, for me it doesn't). If I count all the rooms (and not just the year round rooms) the fee is way more. If I only count the year round rooms it's the same fee. That's why I'm looking at chambers in the...

    B & B Turnover

East coast? That's what I thought. ME, NH, VT. Unless that's someone else. Eek.

    Would you lie?

Because the organization only gave everyone until Dec 1 to pay up or get out (and we just got the paperwork today), I have to make the decision without having a chance to get input. If I choose wrong and the inn is off this listing for a year, it may not work to the inn's advantage. I am...

    B & B Turnover

Never rent your own room out. That is just unbeleivable when I see that happening. There are a couple of places near here where the owners do that. Sleep on the floor in the attic or something. They seriously believe the extra $2000 is worht it. Right now an extra $2000 would be nice, but not...

    Would you lie?

The answer would be based on how many calls she/we got this year citing finding us using this resource. Keeping track is catch as catch can but it looks like about 7% of the business came from callers who said they found the inn using this resource. It does mean that 93% comes from elsewhere...

    Would you lie?

This is the time of year when local memberships come due. While my aunt is away, I am reviewing these memberships and their pricing. The one big local membership she has the inn listed with raised their rates by 15% this year. Looking over this year's room receipts, I can see that this...

Amusing that their site contains this in the Terms and Conditions, as this is the only way they could have gotten the info posted in the first place: 13. LINKING, FRAMING, MIRRORING, SCRAPING, DATA-MINING OR POSTINGS Links to the Web Sites without the express written permission of IWE are...

Opened a door lately? Wash your hands!

But the plastic wrap is never removed. I've never seen them replace the plastic wrap, even when I see them taking all the tools and trays away. And now you get glasses to wear. Are those disinfected? The worst germs are kid germs anyway. Little germ factories. The sickest I've ever been here is...

    Currents | Rooms Bed-and-Breakfast, Doily-Free - INN the news 11.13.08

At a certain price point price doesn't matter. When I looked into a 'babymoon' package for a friend, it was over $2000 for ONE night in NYC. A similar package in Maine was $450 for 2 nights. The NY one you were paying for the name-Mandarin. The Maine one you were paying for the...

I only used the ones in the list and a few I remembered from a previous job! Otherwise it would have been paragraphs!

We have that! Birds. Lots of stuffed birds in glass cases. It's creepy in the dead of the night. And try dusting the ones not under glass. My cousin had her deceased dog stuffed. It's in her parlor, right on the hearth where he always slept. Weird.

    anyone else get this?

But can you see the email address she sent the email from? Looks like she's trying to get those other people to pay her to increase their web presence and her way of doing that is to buy links from places she has found the keywords those other folks need. So a weaver gets linked to a place that...

    Britain's most irritating expressions

2 sentences: I personally believe, at the end of the day, at this moment in time and with all due respect to those not on board the solutioning of this fairly unique problem, that we absolutely can get more eyeballs on this with 24/7 diligence even though we shouldn't of resourced this offline...

    Britain's most irritating expressions

Seriously. No, really. I wouldn't lie. Any noun turned into a verb...solution, as an example. "At the end of the day, we're absolutely so going to solution that problem if we have to work on it 24/7." Going to go back and look at the list and see if I can get them all into one coherent...

    anyone else get this?

Can you view the address that sent the email? Is there a company name attached to that or is it a yahoo address or other freebie? When I'm unsure, that is one method I use...a real company will have a real email address, which leads you to a real site that you can check.

They are probably very annoying here as well! Especially when used as jargonese in a corporate environment. Guilty as charged on # 5 and #10!

    Haunted room?

It looks like my place has been confused with somewhere else. Your place is in GA, right? I'm guessing you wouldn't be referring guests to a place in Maine? We're on an island off the Down East coast. Sorry if there has been any confusion. I've only been using this forum to sort out some...

Prices go up, but they don't go down

"I remember at your seminar when Dani said if they find you when their kid's a freshman you have them for the rest of the kid's time in school." This is not something I find true across the board. We are close to one college and a not too long drive to another. We have had parents here for...
