    LOUD guests

They actually spray a molten rock mixture into an air stream to make it. I saw it on "How It's Made", a TV show.

Having a hall on two sides of each room and the outside on the remaining sides sounds like a good idea. We are thinking of using a seperate wing for the guest area and this could be designed in. The wing can be shut down for Winter if not used.

    LOUD guests

After hearing about the problems with "Sounds" getting out of the rooms and into the spaces beyond, I am thinking that sound proofing might be something I should design in when we build. Concreat blocks come to mind! Have any here has success with the sound proofing problem?

    "It works. Big deal"

You make the case for not over selling your self. It is easier living up to low expectations than struggleing to hit the high you have promised.

    Vibrating Pipes!

I wonder if you might have solved the problem by adding a anti hammer pipe? It is just a section of vertcal water pipe about 18 inches or so , capped on the end, attached to the feed line. The captive air absorbes the pulse so it is not transmitted to the system.

    The Seven Year Report

I am very glad you gave this report. You re-enforce the beliefe that B&B owners must first satisfy themselfs to be able to satisfy their clients. If you enjoy what you do, it will show and be rewarded.

USA TODAY Travel Article: Do you regularly turn off lights, TV in your hotel room?

Living in a city is far different than living out in the sticks. We now live out in the sticks! So far out that they could take a buldozer to our house and draw little attention. So we do not lock up. Might as well save the door from distruction. But, living here cuts down on the chance of...

The Ultimate Guide for B&B owners and innkeepers

I would add to this string that the reason I come here is to see what is 'between the lines' of the How To Book. Many things here are A'hah moments to be put in memory. The heated bathroom floor is one I can think of. Great touch of comfort on a cold damp morning.

The Ultimate Guide for B&B owners and innkeepers

I am using boldface because I have been told it is easier to read than trying to read it this way. On small screens or in bright light, this is much easier on my old eyes than this. So I agree. What say you? Art

The Ultimate Guide for B&B owners and innkeepers

A long time ago,I bought a Radio Shack Color Computer with a dedicated cassett recorder for storage and uploads. I did the pain staking upload from a magazine for a game called "Pong". It was done in Basic Programing Code. I soon discovered that all that typing was not for me. One mistake meant...

They are the same people who think that "House Wifes" have it easy. Get Hubby & The Kids out the door in the morning and then lounge around eating Bon Bons and watching the Soaps. Right? Art

    Wheel Chairs and Walkers

You make a good point for two beds that I had not thought of. Before we did this trip, we were one of those that did not know how hard it is for those with mobility problems. We did let the desk know of our problems and most were all ears and open to fixing problems. We stayed at a "Red Roof...

    Wheel Chairs and Walkers

The places we stayed also had the one bed. The first stop we made was the eye opener. She had to keep the back brace on due to a Compressed Vertibra that was to take months to heal before the brace could be removed at night. She stood there looking at the bed height and asked, "Now what?!?" We...

The Ultimate Guide for B&B owners and innkeepers

As it comes to computers, I liken myself to someone who knows how to find his way thru a busy city to get to a friends house. But, I end up getting there in a round about way when if I had known about a few short cuts, it would have taken less time and effort ! Art

    Wheel Chairs and Walkers

That trip was an eye opener for us. "Walk a mile in someones Walker" is the saying for today! And it did give us the thought to think ahead to a time when that walker might be part of our lives also. In fact, we are using that thinking in our plans for a B&B. If we get our mobility compromised...

    Wheel Chairs and Walkers

When my wife played Alice in Wonderland and fell thru the top landing of an outside set of stairs, we were on our way to learning first hand how it is to travel disabled. I did a cross country trip to Seattle, Washington, to pick her up. Our trip back had her in a back brace and using a walker...

USA TODAY Travel Article: Do you regularly turn off lights, TV in your hotel room?

I carry a couple of plug in night lights with me when I travel. I am sleeping in a strange room and do not want to stumble in the dark. When we leave, I turn them on. That way I am not comming back to a dark cave with unknown hazzards. The heat/cool I adjust to a lower/higher level so I am not...

The Ultimate Guide for B&B owners and innkeepers

I think a lot of my problem and those of my generation, is that we lack the basic knowledge of computers that is now taught in grammar school. Calculators came out about my seventh grade. They were not allowed in school as it was considered cheating to use them. When the youth of today reach the...

Boy! Can I see myself in your comments here! LOL I am one who does not know most of the short hand that people use online. They bring it from their texting on cell phones. Here in Northern NH, we have limited cell phone coverage snd none where I live. We use Wildblue Satellite Service for Web...
