Old and not stained or threadbare go to the vacation rental. Next stop after lightly stained they get put in the 'dog towel' basket for the canine loving guests. After that they get used for shop and painting rags.

Thanks for sharing! I was cleaning rooms (with all lights on) during the event. We had two guest that morning who had the 5:30a breakfast in advance of hitting the road, then we had two last night back from the event, full of happy stories. Sounds like all had a good time in spite of the traffic.

I don't ask about jobs, children, really anything personal unless, as you have suggested - the guest creates that opening. Our guests are on holiday, so I will ask it they have seen, or are aware of, this local attraction or that, or let them know about a local event. If the conversation veers...

We have a sign too - that specifically references paper towels amongst other items. I'm better now. Was livid yesterday. I forgot the prime directive of venting here FIRST before contacting guests or writing review responses. We'll see how it plays out.
