If this were any type of media other than a press release you would be correct. People are trying to merge an advertisement, with journalism.

That was the point I've been making the entire time, and that's the way things actually work.

What's the goal of press release? To generate exposure and pickup, therefore its' entire existence is TO BE PLAGiARIZED. As I said, it's a bit shady, but it's common. The scientist argument is hogwash, are you joking? A new discovery is not in the realm of freely avaialble information (ie a...

I agree, that is somewhat shady to post a release with no attribution, but in the end if the effect of the press release was promote the inns, and not the directory, they should be happy the inns got more exposure. It is cheeky indeed. It's also kind of rough to publicly pillary them for doing...

Press releases, by nature, can't be plagiarized.

That's actually incorrect. There is no hard and fast rule as to 'How Press Releases Work'. For example, if the press release featured a certain inn, then a journalist might choose to write about that inn, and not mention BB.com, which is very common. Press Releases are story suggestions for...

Umm, that's what is supposed to happen with a press release, the idea is that other media outlets either use them to construct stories or run them verbatim as space fillers. By its very nature a press release can't be plagiarized. If you don't want people to re use the content, then make it an...

    A Ghost in the Library

My brother has been the site manager at Eastern State Penitentary, in Philly for a long time (he even wrote a book about it), which is supposedly one of the most haunted places in the world. It's been on Ghost Hunters and every other parnormal tv show, and he's constantly being interviewed about...

    never say no one

This is interesting. I have been tv free since 1995, and when I travel, and stay somewhere that has a television I find it a strange way to kill time now.

    Inn Cuisine?

Chloe's blog is fantastic and a personal favorite of mine, I really enjoy it, it has a cool take on life. I just checked and I was able to pop up the blog, site, directory listings etc. , so maybe it was just server trouble or something.

    New pix, comment now, please!

Yeah, Lightroom is like Photoshop, but unlike photoshop it has amazing tools that can do everything you need automatically. I'm in love with it, I've just started shooting photos in the last 3 years since I bought a DSLR and Lightroom has really made a difference. I think this photo is...

That's the one by far, it looks great. Just bring that into light room and use the auto white balance feature, which will sharpen the rest of the room taking the hotspots off the bedspread. That really looks like a great room.

Pay as you go phone plans

Until a few weeks ago, I had a Sprint phone for 'personal' use and ATT for my work Crackberry. I found that Sprint had amazing reception everywhere (I once got a call in the Bowling Green subway station) and was fairly priced, but had horrendous customer service. It was very difficult with...

    Need a new vocab word

Gatsby is both strange and delightful, but Gatsby has a bit of an air of tragedy. How about 'Bennets' as in Elizabeth Bennet from 'Pride and Prejudice'. She is strange (won't marry for money in 18 C. England) and delightful (love to dance, stomp around in the mud and speak her mind to haughty...

    Innkeeper T-Shirts

It's funny, last weekend I went to a 'Gatsby Jazz Age Lawn Party' on Governor's Island here in NYC, amd I met a gent who wrote 'Dorothy Parkers' NY' which is an amazing tour of all the places the Algonquin crowd hung out. You should pick it up, I bet you'd love it. DP would be on my list of...

I love that one. My other favorite DP quote 'I love a martini, two at most. Three I'm under the table, four I'm under the host'.
