Selling due to Health Issues - Question?

Having gone through a sale recently, I understand your concerns, especially regarding NDA's and the info distribution. If there is a way to PM on this site, I would be happy to share more of our experience. Wish you the best on the sale endeavor.

Put merchant CC fees on guest?

We switched to a processor (CMS) who I think is owned by the reservation system we use. We did not want to have interchange fees that varied widely each month. We have a great rate which is the same for all cards, including intl. cards and no per transaction fee. There is one annual fee ($80)...

    Giving OTAs the Boot

Just wondering as the new owners if you have to honor the OTA reservations if you decide not to use them. The agreement would have been with the previous owner(s).

    Single Night Surcharge?

During the busy season we charge $10-$20 more for a single night if we decide to make it available or take the reservation. This is on top of yield management price changes based on demand. We usually don't upcharge if it is a repeat guest (that we like :) ) making an inquiry.

    10 Year Anniversary

Just noting it is an anniversary should be good especially with marketing. Maybe a value added during April, but not a discount. Heck, Disney raised prices for their anniversary. Ha!

    10-Year Smoke Detectors

We had a brand that several starting going off for no reason or began beeping like it was the end of the battery life after a few months and two of them after a year. The company sent free replacements (one had an issue after a year). We switched to another brand and no problem so far.

    Giving OTAs the Boot

All the best on your new endeavor! My wordy two cents or so, which I hope helps. - If you decide to stay with an OTA (you probably don't need both) be sure to change the settings on their admin site to not be part of any discounts (member or promotions). - Regularly check the rates on their...

    Crank calls

Hi Arks, good point. I was thinking he could only give the Google Voice number to guests and not use it as the main business number. That way, only guests know this number, similar to giving out his personal cell number. He can turn off or disconnect the business line at night. Just a thought.

    Crank calls

Maybe try using a Google Voice number (free) for guests to call. Works well for us.

Hi there, We use ResNexus for the last 5 years and have been happy with it overall. Service response is quick when needed and changes or enhancement requests are addressed, depending on the priority of course. Monthly online webinars are helpful. New features and updates almost monthly. Some...

    It's the little things...

Agree, especially about handling damage charges. Stealing? Well...LOL. Frustrating even more.

    It's the little things...

At least they asked in advance. Don't you love when they just show up to check in at 11am as the previous guest in their room is leaving?!

    Request of the day.

We had a new one this week too. A guest planning to stay with us asked if a guest staying at another inn could store breast milk in our fridge.

    Only Scammers Use Telemarketing...

For us, X does call to upsell, a promotion, or bug us why we have no availability when we are sold out. We have never received a call from TA, but we do from Y**P, who are high pressured. Agree with the general statement that telemarketers are mostly scammers. No calls from Google, except the...

    What is wrong with people

Last minute res probably from too much to drink so they decided to stay somewhere. Sorry you had to endure the issue.

What would you do? Who right?

Prices are available in the reservation process, so they have to select a dates to find out what the price is for those dates. With variable pricing and yield management, we don't post prices on a webpage. Almost all hotels do it the same way, so people are used to it.
