What does your registration form consist of ?

As you may remember we were thinking of starting a B&B, but reading your comments made us change our mind. We still plan to open as a guest house. May question is do you have your quests sign anything upon arrival that protects you legally. As I have stated before we had just under 20 rental...

What information do you get when someone calls you ?

Thanks, Another question, when we lease a house to someone we get a deposit equal to one months rent to cover damages and cleaning. In your kind of business cleaning is figured into the price. But what if once they are gone you find damage or theft of something.

Are we really trying to start a B&B or something else?

Thats a great idea. When our kids were at hame we went to Galveston, Texas at least once a year and rented a beach house. OH, sadness, we don't have an ocean. Hey, but there are other things around here. You all are going to put me in business yet.

Are we really trying to start a B&B or something else?

I never heard of such a thing, but it sounds good. Are there other places that use that term? When I was a little boy I knew if you slung enough mud on the wall some of it would stick. Something will work out if we just keep trying.

Are we really trying to start a B&B or something else?

Good comments. We could clean once a week without a problem or pay someone. We are not to good to clean, we have cleaned up after renters for over 25 years, but don't we get a break sometime. lol A short term rental for business people would work well for us. We have remodeled and everything...

Are we really trying to start a B&B or something else?

I understand your feelings about someone who knows very little about the B&B business just popping up and saying I am in the B&B business. Quite a few years ago, must have been the mid 80's. The Mac computer came out and I went from doing commercial art the traditional way to doing it on the...

Are we really trying to start a B&B or something else?

I have some understanding of business I owned and operated Studio A, a commercial art studio from 1972 till a couple of years ago when I started backing out of it. I guess I am retired now. It wass nearly a 24 hour service, lots of tight dead lines. Also my wife and I have owned and operated A&A...

Are we really trying to start a B&B or something else?

There was a man here in our town who had studied the book of Revelation. He was not a member of any organized group. Just him and a few people who would listen to him. I told one of his friends, hey, get out in the mainstream and compare ideas. He never did, died a few years ago, so I guess he...

Are we really trying to start a B&B or something else?

I have posted several questions and got great answers. Some of you have read and responded. Our main objective is to use the space that we do not need to provide us with extra income, I am a retired commercial artist. We also want to have a business to write off business expenses. We still have...

Do you take everyone that contacts you?

When I made the comments about not wanting to take unmarried couples I expected to take a lot of flack. I was pleasantly surprised the you all answered the question without condemning me for asking. Thanks I am just trying to learn and express my feeling honestly. A B&B may not be what we want...

You may be right, we can still lease it out. It just seems like something we would like to try.

How do you receive your money, credit card, cash, check, etc.

Much good advise. We do plan to take credit cards and probably bookings on line. You asked if we had stayed at a B&B, a couple of times. I have a lot of trouble with my back when sleeping so we bought a Roadtrek motor home and stay in it when we travel. That way I take a bed with me that works...

Here is a layout of our property. http://www.waskomtexas.com/waskom_garden/room_layout.html I just rendered a quick image in a 3D modeling program that I use. The area that is Orange is the area that we will rent out. Our guests will also have excess to a garden & gazebo that I will be...

Do you take everyone that contacts you?

I know from reading some of your websites that some of you don't allow pets, children, etc. How do you "weed out" people who you don't want?

How do you receive your money, credit card, cash, check, etc.

Do people make reservations from your website, call, e-mail or all of the above? OK, how ever they make contact how do you get the money? Do they make a deposit to hold the room?
