So... yesterday morning we woke to our guests informing us that the showers did not have hot water. Outside to have look.. yest the water heater burst...cold showers for the morning... dash to get water heater (4 hours roundtrip_ ...get the old out.. get the plumber there.. get the new in... water in the evening. BUT...
- We had been looking for a plumber to do a new gas line for the second dryer that we are going to add. We called a construction friend who turned us on to a guy he has been using... nicest guy, hard worker, reliable, family business is plumbing.. made an emergency run at the end of his regular work day... we now have a reliable plumber who can do the gas line.
- Sat with our guests from Japan on their honeymoon who shared a very funny story about reading in a review that we had cool showers and wondering if that meant cold as they tried to figure out if they were operating the shower correctly. Hot water was on by they had returned from their day out. It's one of those stories they will remember. Loved their stay- lots of pictures and waving when they left.
- We had been really needing to get the water heater situation updated and upgraded and it didn't seem to make the list this year. HD had just the one we wanted in stock to replace the ones we were taking out and suddenly it is far superior to what we had and it isn't hanging on the bottom of the to do list.
- This morning, we woke to the news that we had been named the #3 small hotel in the United States, had been on the TV news in Honolulu, and it all happened in a year when we went out of our way to stay balanced.
- We were reminded how extraordinarily fortunate we are when we called our water delivery guy only to learn that his entire business was on hold because his truck needed repair. We had just a few challenging hours and a couple of cold shower discounts to contend with.
