Anybody have any thoughts about this new TR1PPIN Directory for inns? I got an e-mail from AC0RN about it today. I thought directories were mostly dead, but this one seems highly optimized for Google.

I don't really understand how it works. They only allow ONE B&B to be a contributor in every town. My town already has a B&B contributing so the rest of us are on a "wait list" which I don't understand. So I imagine where the one "contributor" will recommend visitors stay..so how does this benefit the rest of us who cannot contribute??

Good question! If that's the way they want to play, I'll take my ball and go home. I think I can delete this e-mail without further thought.

Replying to this thread, but it also relevant to the one at https://www.innspiring.com/node/13501.
Just so the info is accurate - this isn't "just" a directory. It is specifically designed to meet Google's criteria for their mobile-only app, Field Trip, and they have a contract with Google to push data out to the Field Trip app. If you are a contributor (rather than having only a basic listing), your posts get picked up and can build your personal authority on Google, as well as promoting your property.
If you haven't seen it yet, the sales video can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrGEQDtD9tQ.

P.S. For full disclosure - I do a bit of freelance web development and SEO work for Acorn-IS.

To enroll as a contributor you can go to http://www.go-trippin.com/enroll (you'll be forwarded to a signup form). If you only want a listing, in the dropdown in the "Custom" section, choose inn listing only.

Just another way for A c o r n to get more of your money and make you think...you have to have this.

Let me got this straight - to CONTRIBUTE to the Field Trip info, I have to PAY to belong? IF I have to PAY someone to give them content for their web site they can pound salt! I give info freely, but there is no way I am going to pay to give. And that form looks as if I am going to be paying to belong to be able to give info. All done.

Yep you get to pay for the privilege that their promotion of the site will some how someway get you higher in search engines I guess. I started looking through it and it's nothing I would go back and look at again. Sorry a co r n

I checked it out when they first unveiled it. Nope, I didn't want to pay to spend hours writing and constantly updating.
