Hi all,
I am wondering how many of you offer your guests speciality soaps, like goat's milk or glycerin. I'm looking at ordering 200 milk soaps from icandy soaps for 49 dollars (these are customer designed) but wonder if anyone feels this sort of luxury item would be worth the extra money?
[swirt - coincidentally, Jenny lives in the very same town as iCandy Soaps and is one step away from getting her company banned from this site]

25 cents per bar of soap is not expensive at all. If you can buy them locally, all the better.
This forum tends to get a lot of spam from icandy soaps so no one on here would use them.

I'm also finding it very interesting that jenny105 posted this topic just minutes after she joined the forum. Sounds fishy to me!

God, I'm relieved that this topic was about soap. Have you ever tasted goats milk? It's like drinking pure evil.

My sister opened a little store downtown last week and one of the things she's selling is goat's milk laundry soap. A little old lady here in the county makes it from goat milk, lard, lye, and water, wraps each cake of soap in plain wax paper, writes a $2.50 price on it with a pen, and it's flying off the shelf!
She also makes goat milk bath soap from goat milk, coconut & soy bean oil, priced at $1.50 but it's not selling so well. I guess folks would rather rub the stuff on their clothes than their bodies.

The price is too low. She should raise the price to $4.

Goat cheese is an entirely different subject. Try goat's cheese with dried figs or fig preserves on a cracker. Even better is that Allouette herb cheese spread with figs.

Maddie is correct - raise the price and they MUST have it. If it is expensive, it must be good! Tell your sister to turn the 1 into a 4.

If I can persuade her to raise the price, we'll see what happens. Sounds like a good plan.
She mentioned today that she bought all the woman had, and it takes the woman something like 6 weeks to make more. So right now we have a monopoly on a rare commodity in the county. It should command a high price!
Wonder if it would sell better if we put it on a doily...

Yes raise the price, at our farmer's market goat soap is selling for $6 a bar and they are not the big bars you find in the grocery, they are about 1/2 to 2/3 that size.

It takes 6 weeks to cure. If it doesn't set up properly it's a mess.
