Got this overnight from Boo. Essentially they still won’t validate most cards.

You told us, we listened
After the last round of changes to the invalid credit card process, many partners got in touch with feedback. We’re happy to tell you, that we’ve made the following changes…
Automatic credit card validation for certain bookings
For certain reservations that we predict to be at a high risk of cancellation, we’ll save you time and energy by proactively validating the card. If the details turn out to be invalid, we’ll automatically start the invalid credit card process for you.
New deadlines for last-minute guests to update their details
Guests who have booked less than 48 hours before check-in will now have either 12 hours or until 3pm on the day of arrival to update their details – whichever comes first. However for last-minute reservations of over ten nights, guests will be given two hours to provide new card details. This has been reduced from 24 hours.
For invalid card bookings after 13:00 on the day of arrival, guests will be given two hours to provide new card details.
Why don’t we just cancel or block invalid credit card reservations?
Reservations made with an invalid credit card are not always what they seem. It’s useful to remember that a valid card might not be chargeable due to various banking regulations. Our research shows that guests with invalid credit cards are 75% as likely to stay at the property as guests with valid cards. These guests arrive as planned and pay by cash or using a valid card at check-in. Because of this potential for revenue, we think the ultimate decision should stay with you.”
