Don't know that the EU is going to go for it. But it does raise issues that hold true for American inns as well.

Another Inn here in town closes for the winter just after Christmas. I have always had more reviews than they have, but I notice they had 5 new reviews post in the same few days in January, by which time they've been closed for about three weeks. Very odd...

I do, too. Even though my experience with TA has been good, I've seen more than my share of obviously fake reviews and they irk me every single time.
It's hard to imagine the EU taking the steps they're being asked to. But it's not at all hard to imagine TA trying to head things off at the pass by tightening up their system somehow.
