Just looking at a b & b website with a very unusual guest policy
Couples must be a legally married husband and wife
though a lot of us would love a policy like this, and I'm sure 50 years ago we all would have imposed it but in 2011 I know our occupancy would be at about 1/2 it is now if we had this one on our list.

It might also be illegal. I am not sure you can do that.
Edit: the word might is become I am polite. It is illegal where my B&B is.

Sorry, it is none of their business. I would not be interested in staying at this place. Chris and I were together for quite some time before we got married.
My parents had some very dear friends when I was growing up in Europe who never married. She escaped with her husband in very frightening circumstances from Soviet Russia, They got separated and she could never bring herself to marry as she could never be sure he died in the escape.
RIki

Disgusting. That's all I can say.
Anyway we all know that running a B&B you have to have NO morals!! LOL

Interesting with the name of the B&B being what it is that they have that requirement.
Holly Golightly is a country girl turned New York escort girl, who makes her living as a companion to society's most prominent men.

I wouldn't have a policy like that as an innkeeper and I wouldn't patronize a business like that as a guest. That's just how I choose to run my own business and dole out my business to others, not a judgment on the legality and/or morality of the policy.

I wonder about the legality of this as well. This is not a private club...but a business and that is discrimination if someone REALLY wanted to get them! I would guess it would be a good battle.

Seriously, you would prosecute guests for loud love making? I know we all have stories, but none of them involve the police!
Disturbing the peace of other guests will not be tolerated and is prosecutable! So keep love play, cell phones, entertainment, children, etc. at a nominal level; especially after 10:00 pm.

Right! I'm finding their policies all to humerous. Will we have to show them our marriage certificate, for proof, in order to stay there?

Read the "About Us" page...it'll all make more sense once you see what type of religion they are.

and how are they enforcing this? produce marriage certificate on arrival? checking for rings? im guessing they don't do a lot of business except for the curious!

we have a jehova temple here but (no offence to their religion) but it is quite an ugly building. When I had a chap ask for directions to it I had to say and so you don't miss it it looks like a converted garage. When he came back he said "you are right it does look like a converted garage!" It was a bit tricky as if you were looking for something more grand you would miss it but I didn't want him to think I was being rude about his house of worship, luckily he thought it was funny.

I knew of an inn in Ohio that had that policy. Personally, none of MY business.
However, in going to the home page to see where this was, I discovered THIS sentence:
you can expect and will receive the best in quality and service while discovering all that the Rendezvous Region has to offer!

We would have missed the opportunity to meet a lot of fantastic guests with a policy like that. I didn't (and wouldn't) have a policy like that. Not up to me to muck around in people's personal life choices....

I wonder how they "skirt" the discrimination issue when him & him and her and her book in.! Who does what behind their own (or rented) door - as long as it does not involve a minor - is no one else's business. Certainly not mine. I have had some super interesting and really nice guests who were him & him, her & her, and meet in the middle. I have also had married couples with different last names. Heck, I KNOW several with different last names. Spare me the narrow minds - I personally prefer the interesting and interested minds. Keep the door of your mind closed and you miss so much of beauty, learning, and life that comes in when it is open.
