Wow!!!! This is over the top price wise for a bed and breakfast. I prefer to stay in a bed and breakfast and this feels like a high class very timy hotel. I am sure this will appeal to someone. This feels like a buisness travelers place.
You are so good a finding these stories all the time. I fine it interesting when you do. Thanks

This has a certain appeal for me. Nice, fresh clean looking...which I think would appeal to business folks. Though the web site is lacking in that I would want to see each room with pics and prices..not generalizations. Though..I would never pay these prices for a B & B. DId they mention breakfast anywhere??? I must have missed it.

And what company is going to authorize a $300 per plus tax room night? For the CEO maybe but the ordinary business traveler? WOW!! If it was my company I do not think so.....

Well somebody obviously is paying it as they are booked:) Good for them. There is a niche for everyone as I have said all along.

Of course there is a niche for everyone. More power to them to get $300 and up a night. My question is what viable business (I think I saw business traveler mentioned somewhere) is going to pay that rate. we are being told the economy is in the tank and that we should be concerned about occupancy - and how many of us have rates that start at $300 per night?
I do not begrudge anyone whatever rate they can get. Go for it!

I think it's rather nice. There is something for everybody. My place is nowhere near as modern as that but it is not frilly at all. Guests like to see that and comment that it's great to have all different kinds of accommodations rather than more of the same. Good luck to them!

Well we think the economy is in the tank..but talking to my sister last night...she runs the jewelry / gift shop at Moutaineer Casino in WV.....people are still flocking in there and plunking those $$$ into the slots and card tables...and buying jewelry like there is no end in sight.
And here I sit afraid to even open up my broker page for fear I have nothing left by now:-(

I do not think the economy is in the tank. My thoughts is that it was manufactured for politics and then like Topsy it growed. The populace is being told daily (and has been for the lest couple years) that the economy is in the tank and unfortunately people finally started to believe it.
As I said before - I had NO cancellations of any reservations other than one where the lady had CHANGED jobs - not that she had been lsid-off.

The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear.
If we listened to all the fear-mongering we would have given up all hope.

I also like doillyfield.
I personally think a b & b should be decorated according to the year it was built. Our 1908 is decorate in that era.
A 1950's should be decorated according to how they did it then.

Lo that is what my Dad keeps telling me, Victorians were fascinated with animals, you can have my moosehead. NO WAY! I tell him parlor animals, not giant moose.

We have that! Birds. Lots of stuffed birds in glass cases. It's creepy in the dead of the night. And try dusting the ones not under glass.
My cousin had her deceased dog stuffed. It's in her parlor, right on the hearth where he always slept. Weird.

as for me, i prefer doillyfied to modern. there is room for all kinds of b&b's, but what's wrong with doilies? i don't own any doilies myself, i guess my taste is somewhere around 'cozy'.
did you see the room rates?! are those typical for that area?

the stock market is nuts - not that i ever understood it.
re; room prices. i've said before, i paid close to $300. a nite in 2004 for a room with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub. it was expensive (for me) but wonderful.

At a certain price point price doesn't matter. When I looked into a 'babymoon' package for a friend, it was over $2000 for ONE night in NYC. A similar package in Maine was $450 for 2 nights. The NY one you were paying for the name-Mandarin. The Maine one you were paying for the amenities-massages for him and her, 2 nights' stay, dinner, welcome package.
Once you hit a certain price, the people who can afford that are insulated from massive changes in the market. Like a TV show I saw last night where a couple bought 4 apartments in a building and converted them into one living space. It took over a year, over $1m for the reno (nevermind the cost to buy 4 apartments) and she went through cancer treatments either right before the project or during the project.

Now that would freak me out. Like the time I walked into a room in the Misty museum on Chincoteague and came face-to-face with a stuffed Misty.

Are you kidding! I wanted to take the kids there, they would be heart broken to see that! What were they thinking.
