I just got a new queen bed to replace a full-size in onw of my rooms. I have flannel sheets for the winter in queen size but they are colors suited for the room that has had a queen from day one. So I wen sheet shopping (say that 3 times quickly!). Kohls had fleece sheets that were $115 for $ 45 & change. So I bought one set in fleece and one set of flannel - with the standard 15% discount - it came to less than $83.
My Ohio innkeeper friend was coming down - we finally found a time we could get together to celebrate our birthdays!! - so i put the fleece in the rom she was going to be in as a test. I forgot to tell her it was a test or even mention the new sheets. first thing she said when she came down in the morning was - oh how soft and nice those sheets are! The will be wonderful on a cold winter night. They are hot but soooo soft. - She thought they would be great when it gets colder (maybe I should not have turned on the heat in their room) but it was not that cold yet here.
My comments so far: They are going to take up a LOT more space on the shelf. They have now been washed (I wash in cold water) and dryer dried twice and so far so good. There was no shrinking - the bed they went on for Wednesday night was a very thick (reversible) pillowtop mattress and the bottom sheet fit nicely. the pillowcases are not "generous" in size but fit the standard pillows OK. I will update if there is a change in my opinion of them. So far I think I am going to like them - they dried quickly too.
