Very few of the free sites (unlike free services like Google local) deliver much. In general though if they offer you a direct link (not redirected) they can provide some related boost even if they provide no direct traffic..
www.bbconnector.com is a free site that has a direct link included. www.BnBcoop.com is a free site that has a direct link but is designed in a way where the link is of no help (he means well). The real thing to look for in free links is local links from other local directories or resources for your specific area as opposed to generic broad area directories.
