Of course, in Quebec we understand and use all three, but we tend to use bonne fête more. But Bonne Fête is a Quebecism, so those from France might look at you a bit funny.
And most often, the song that is sung is three lines from "Gens du Pays" with the lines changed thusly... you can also change amie/ami to the person's name....
Mon cher ami (or Ma chère amie),
c'est à ton tour
de te laisser parler d'amour..
A bit off topic... we were visiting upstate NY and VT over the weekend. It's odd how it makes me feel how small my own country can be and at the same time, reminds me how small those communities are... there is so much more choice than here... but yet so difficult to find something like a well made 4 slice toaster.I thought Bonne Fete (with proper accent) was what I wanted. In the end, I will have to order the toaster. I can get one here, but the priceof the one that I was looking for was 70% more, here. So many cheap models were available in NY and VT, but the quality ones, couldn't be found.

Plattsburgh & Burlington? Odd, when I lived there you couldn't find anything! Now there are malls and big boxes everywhere. Tough to find a good toaster, no doubt about it. We have a 4-slicer and I am content to let the toaster make toast but DH has to keep fiddling with the controls and popping the toast before it's done.A bit off topic... we were visiting upstate NY and VT over the weekend. Well, Plattsburgh isn't the same since the Army pulled out. The South mall was broken down into big boxes. The North mall has a LOT of empty stores. Burlington, of course has pushed back against the big boxes. Most of them are out in Williston. Still the only state without a Target store.Plattsburgh & Burlington? So, I have a Toastmaster for myself. Does bagels as well as bread.
Looks similar to this one, but not exactly the same: http://www.amazon.com/Toastmaster-Slice-Extra-Chrome-Toaster/dp/B000JL66US
The inn has a T-Fal: http://www.t-falusa.com/All+Products/Cooking+Appliances/Toasters/Products/Avant%C3%A9+Classic+4+Slice+Toaster+Black/Avant%C3%A9+Classic+Toaster.htm
I will say that both of these have held up well. We have toast for guests about 3x/week. The secret, as I'm sure you know, is to figure out what kind of bread you're using and set the toaster accordingly. If only I could convince DH of that.
.
I always try and buy local where I can but there are times when you just can't find whatever it is! I needed an extra large curtain pole so had to order off ebay. But on the other side of that we are a bit spoilt as we have 3 large cities within 16 miles in each direction where you can usually get anything specialised. However I appreciate many on here are in rural locations with a long drive between shops, for example its easily a 11/2 hour drive to the wholesaler for many of the B&B's in the dales sometimes more so you have to make sure you have everything. Mind you at least the big supermarkets here deliver so if you are in a bind for time you can have them drop it off. However what you order isn't necessarily what you get!Stainless steel, countdown timer, 4 slices. Physically, not available. It's not so easy up here. A lot of stores won't deliver to the wild blue yonder and if they do, they want an arm and a leg for it.
Rumour has it that Costco might have it at the stores around here. My regular Costco is a small store, so I will have to venture out to one of the suburban stores, which are larger. Of the Cuisinart one is available online for order on Costco's local website.
And if you want to know the kicker, Sears has the kitchenaid on their website. Normally $179.99, on sale for $134.99 (plus shipping) and the normal price in the US is $99.99 and the currencies are at par! Very frustrating.

0pps I am sorry I did not read into you wanting to know about where to put the accents on Bonne Fete! Thought you were asking how to say Happy Birthday in a French Canadian way??? How silly of me not to understand what you meant..
I did want to know how to say happy birthday, it's just that when I wrote it as bonne fete I did not have the accents on it. Wanted Eric to understand I wasn't going spell it incorrectly (without the accent!) on the b'day cake!Flower said:0pps I am sorry I did not read into you wanting to know about where to put the accents on Bonne Fete! We've talked of going to NH for shopping, but I don't even know what town to go to in NH.
We currently have http://www.shopping.com/Toastess-TT-322/info toaster, but some slices fall down the side and not great for getting out the crumbs. The guests like the timer, so we want another one with the timer.

They are officially saturated with four... none in Burlington. They couldn't get approval for Burlington, instead it's in Williston. On the other hand, VT got Costco and that brings in the Canadians... NY got Sam's Club and well... it doesn't interest in the least because we won't pay the membership fee... we already have our Costco membership cards, for local shopping.North Conway is the big shopping area in NH.Well, Plattsburgh isn't the same since the Army pulled out. VT is also the only state without a McD's in the capital city.
VT was supposed to get a Target, but they got a Lowes instead. And a ton of Walmarts. (After the first one went in it was inevitable.)

yes Bonne Anniveraire is the same meaning with happy birthdayI only know Bonne Fete! Happy Fest or Happy Birthday
The other one Bonne Anniveraire. Both are used..
