Google has finally launched business pages for their social network Google+
You can create yours here: http://www.google.com/+/business/
I think the consensus around the web is ehhh, not really exciting. Nothing great about them, Facebook and Twitter are still where you should focus your energy. But, Google has stated that Google+ data will factor into searches, and we all know how powerful Google rankings are.
It's probably a good idea to create a page, and link it to your website. How important it becomes as a marketing tool is yet to be seen. There's some speculation eventually they will "merge" with your Local Places page.
Our page is here: http://plus.google.com/102411216408311678986/
We're still trying to figure it out :)

I love how they let us know it helps spam google search. As otherwise no one would have a google + page.

I actually think G+ has enormous potential, and I'm watching to see how it evolves.
However, I peeked a bit around about the Business Pages, and pretty much just decided it can wait.

Thanks a lot David! We did not know this and have created a business page right away, looks very promising! plus.google.com/101261494263926807187 and our page if you want to take a look: www.otartufo.com
Best regards and thanks again, Theo

This looks like it could become what Facebook should have done for businesses in the first place.

Thanks for the link. I'm a little confused though..do I need to sign up with my personal name first? When I followed the link, it's asking for my first and last name, not business name.

Yes, I believe you need a personal account first, and then can create a business page as an administrator. Similar to how Facebook does it.

If you want a short URL for sharing your Google+ page many people are using http://gplus.to/. It's an unofficial way, but will work until Google allows for custom URL's. Ours is http://gplus.to/trippo
